Regardless of how you feel personally, TFA was such an enormous success Star Wars will probably go down as the biggest franchise in film history. They're going to make more SW movies than fucking Avengers/Marvel. TFA was an extremely safe movie. But they did it in CW all the time. In fact I even recall Ahsoka decapitating like 4 people at once. Yeah cutting up droids is easier to slide than cutting up people, but in Rebels they literally shoot Stormtroopers and they just get blasted and roll around. In CW clones bit it by the thousand, getting blown up, cut apart, shot, etc. and all they had to do was start putting up a warning before every episode.
Rebels is definitely going to get darker judging by the trailer and also Ezra is probably going to turn, but that doesn't change the fact that the first season is rage inducing with the kitty shit and the second season is barely any better. Not who you're talking to, but the movie goes a long way towards showing how wrong you are on this. They set up the bowcaster as powerful enough to complete remove foes with explosive force. Kylo no sells a direct shot and we clearly see it wound him. The film repeatedly shows him limping and in pain, it even close ups on his blood in the snow. The novelization goes a step further when talking about the wound. Nowhere does it say this makes him stronger, but we see him visibly weakened by this.
All the media surrounding kylo so far supports that he is not a master dueler, he is still a student who never finished training. He can't even properly make his own lightsaber, that's why its power fluctuates. Rey is the forces new chosen vessel, she finally lets it in and it guides her to victory. A Phantom Menace has Anakin use the force to win multiple times by itself, Luke starts deflecting shots the day he picks a sword up.

Okay you need to read that book series again. The Empire is a joke in that setting. As in the New Republic is freaking out when he sends 1 Star Destroyer anywhere because he has so few left they realize its a big deal.
The entire point of the first two books is that Thrawn is desperate and needs to capture more capital ships just to survive.
In every battle Thrawn is commanding, he not only wins, he butchers his opponents. The best Republic commanders are only able to organize orderly retreats. The sole exception is his defeat in the first book which is because Lando just happens to know the codes to Lando's mole miners and was in the same area. Even then Thrawn could have won the battle but he knew the cost wasnt worth it so he ordered a retreat at the confusion of his men.

The entire shot is impressive. He has to fire a missile he has never fired before and doesnt know how fast it can move or turn, from a ship he had never flown before, at crazy speeds, and he does this without a targeting computer.
It is a very impressive shot. A youngling would not be able to do it unless they were powerful in the Force, like Anakin. There is no class taught to younglings on how to redirect a high speed torpedo into the literal perfect angle that even a few degrees off would result in a failure.

Yes it does...there were at least two force techniques brought from EU into the film. One was force stasis, the other is information ripping. Both are from various sources but most notably from KOTOR. Revan used the Force to rip the knowledge of anything from the minds of anyone. He could speak any language by probing the mind if there who speak it. He also used force stasis a lot.
