I was doing fine in soloq until I joined a 4 stack after we stomped.
They all took breaks to rip bongs and get snacks and then after we got into the next comp match one immediately dropped out and another one said he got a text message saying his router died.
I kinda bite myself in the ass because that's the only leaver I had seen in my calibration matches and if I had just kept with solo q I may have gone 7/10 instead of 5/10.

its because people like to flank and then shit the bed. it's extremely easy to get at least bronze damage in this game -- you simply stay near the tank and healer and shoot what they're shooting at. it is literally THAT EASY to be in the top 5% of this game but people refuse to do that, instead going for dumb flanks that never work.

Not a good change imo, the system as it stands now is too condensed and the matchmaking is way too loose. You also gain and lose ranks WAY too fast so it's hard to really stabilize at your skill tier.

I slightly sympathize with the hate for constant complaints and nomath.jpg. I still fucking hate the matchmaking process where a string of bad players or quitters can annihilate your progress. The matchmaking just feels so base and bizarre. I went from 55 to 46 and just now clawed my ass back to 52, and I'd LOVE to blame myself andgit gud, but luck and the community is a huge factor.
You go into "competitive" with an expectation that players will communicate and attempt some follow-through, but you just can't trust randoms. The 62+ I've seen tend to stick to groups of four or larger and keep grinding it out. Hats off to those fucks, but the rest of us gotta scum it out like it's MOBA hell.

I stopped playing when someone picked symettra solo support on KotH, whilst everyone else picked DPS so I was playing Zarya since we needed some tankiness.
Refused to change despite asking multiple times, lost all three rounds due to no support 'lol rage kids'.

How do you rank up while doing solo queue? I did my placements with a friend and we both got 53. Then I played with my full squad and got up to 62. Since then I've been solo queuing and almost every single game I am placed with incompetent retards who are allergic to the point. Every game I have 3 or 4 gold medals, almost always including objective time. Then when I do win someone on the enemy team leaves 50% of the time so I get no experience. I'm back down to rank 55 and it's just not fun.

The one thing that pisses me off more than anything about competitive is that you get punished so hard if anyone leaves the game, no matter what side they were on.
If someone on your team leaves you are almost always guaranteed to lose and then you'll probably lose an entire rank because of it.
If someone on the enemy team leave then you should win but you won't go up any rank for it.

It's been proven. I don't know the exact numbers but Cloud9 all did their placements together and everyone got in the 70s, but their healer got in the 60s.
On top of wins/losses it ranks you based on how much you healed compared to other healers in the game. If your team is good they won't be taking as much damage and the enemy will be taking a lot more damage so their healer has a chance to get a lot more healing than you possibly could. Also if you have two supports on your team that is less healing for each one.

The system works in a number of ways that fucks over supports, as a Mercy specifically you won't have a good K/D, will only reliably get one medal, and when compared against your heroes "average stats" on said map you could swing wildly below it for reasons outside of your control.
In games that I win as a stomp our DPS players get 60-75& of a level at a minimum but as a support I'll get 20-30%. I played perfectly and kept people alive, had a clutch res that saved us from losing a point, and only died once but none of that matters because I got one medal and had "low average stats".
Supports, especially Mercy, get fucked hard by the system as it is now.

The ranking system is fucking stupid. If you lose and you did the best on your team then your rank should still increase, at least in solo queue. If the teams are "balanced" then you will always win about 50% of the time. You sure as hell can't carry the game by yourself, so it isn't really fair that you're judged from your team mates performances as well. It's nearly impossible to climb rank solo queue.

I placed at like 46 and haven't touched it since. It's literally just another quickplay mode with extra salt since I have nobody to queue with.
