I really wish the big releases did this more often. I mean, not every game needs a super extravagant final boss, but I really loathe the fact that more games are tending to go the "no final boss" route because it's "too video gamey."

Great music or audio design. I'd seriously make saves or purposely revisit areas of games as a teen and kid just to hear sfx or music. That shit can make or break a game or even elevate mediocre ones to higher status.

Not so much the villain's side of the story, but Reverse/Rebirth mode in Kingdom Hearts: CoM for the GBA and the PS2 remake let you play as Riku after you beat the game as Sora. Was pretty cool back in the day.

As a MASSIVE Alien fan, I still need to play that game.

But Metroid does that too and I fucking LOVE it. I love all the ambient noises in the sound design and the soundtrack, and how sometimes the music has this really organic sound to it, to the point where it just sounds like noises off in the background, part of the environment.
