It's seriously just practice. Learning how to adapt your playstyle based on what weapon you have, learning the patterns of the enemies and how to consistently safely do damage to them, and spending your diamonds after fucking up repeatedly to get a lot of the good shit. Just keep trying, and if you tend to have trouble on a specific enemy make sure to pay really close attention to the replay/how they manage to hurt you and where you made the mistake.
Worst case, just beat the game as Bard first. He has no beat so it makes it more like a puzzle than an action game.

This. Keep pushing to get some decent gear spawning, and when you have better armor in the rotation/weapons you like, use those shit 1/2 diamond runs where you do something idiotic to go to the person in the south of the lobby to remove the worse items from rotation. That'll give you a decent boost while you learn.
Also, make use of the practice area for any newly encountered enemies
