This fucking game... I love it.
I don't think I can take another FUN moment and play through again, though.
I died a few times, like start over fucking dead, and right now I'm struggling to kill enough enemies to get blood samples just to stay alive to make de-contamination pills... I just read the basic pill will get you 42 points of contamination down... why the fuck wouldn't you know that as your character already? I was getting scared and eat one at ten or twenty points. I mean, at this point I'm far enough into the game that something like this is going to turn me right fucking off if it. I don't have to heart to start over now because of something this trivial. Am I fucked in the game with this play?

This board is so fucking fast I can't get a word in edgewise. I'm not dead yet, but the writing is on the wall. Damn this game is unforgiving.
Well, now that I look at what I have, it's not as dire as I was fearing it was. I just took a pill and got it down to 3 out of 100. I have 43 blood samples and need 50 to make a pill. I think, If I'm smart and don't Rambo my way though, I can get past this hump. This game is fucking stressful. I've invested so heavily that I was getting caught up in it. Great game. The last time I was so invested in a game was my last play at Dwarf Fortress.

In that one, I'd already made a great little fortress, things were good and I was able to defend myself, even against the Necromancer's tower in by area. I got greedy though and dug until I found adimantium. I'd built things so I could flood water into magma pools, which actually ended up happening. All good, I'm thinking I'm king shit. Then, just as I got my magma forges set up at least 100 mushroom faggots started running up my mine shaft. That's after I'd placed serious patrols down there with my best guys. They died. The Mushroom dudes charge into my kill zone, the archers fuck them up, and then I pull the lever and wash the rest into the magma shoot I was talking about I'd build for flooding. My dwarves don't like this though??? They eventually destroy themselves because I've been too harsh on my enemies..? It wasn't even cave adaptation that got them crazy, it was that they were pissed because I was killing things too easily. One great thing that happened in that game though- One of my Dwarf craftsmen made a spear out of adimantium called Raptor Shank. Legendary. It was worth more than my whole fortress 5 times over. I never played the adventure mode, but if I did I'm make my character go to that old Fortress and find it, if I could. That character would be a god with that weapon.

I'm just using this board to bounce my own voice off of at this point. But I'll try to describe the game.
Top down, dark, horror survival. Extremely micro-management orientated. You can't make mistakes or miss-use what you find. You're the lone survivor in a Mars colony installation. Fully functioning- it has a casino and a prison. You are a scientist who got thrown in jail on a false rap. At first you have to get outta the jail and make your way to the central control area- you use that place as your HQ. Then you have to start up the manufacturing wing, the research wing, biotics wing, and mining wing. A zombie plague is in the air though, and all the life support systems are off-line in every area. You have to find gear that lets you survive in these places until your can start up the engines. Eventually, I think, you can upgrade the filters you install so they will curb the spread of infection. Each area rises and lowers in terms of infections depending on what tech you've managed to install in each area. But you have to manage your own infection too. You can only make pills for this by killing enemies and collecting blood samples. Everything is super tight. You don't have much room for error.

Well, the reason I made this thread was to ask for help with making the pills. If you do play this game, do what I did not do. Wait until your infection is around 40 before eating a pill, don't panic and eat on at 10. You find a fare bit in the first part of the game- I burnt through them too fast, now I'm scrambling, having to be super smart about fights, constantly freaking out about it. I think I can still do this playthrough but I've made it really hard for myself.

I dunno about that. It's different and it has a lot on story within it. Lots of text you don't have to read. It's socially relevant, it makes a lot of references to things going on now that you wouldn't catch if you didn't stop, have a smoke and read the fluff it gives you when you find this or that. I showed up looking for some advice on the game. I'm glad some other people like what I like though. It would be cool to have a multiplayer in this game. Two guys running around, getting into trouble and screaming for help as they run down corridors while their buddies tries to find them in time. That would be awesome.

Okay, no more replies. I think I know how to do this. I'm going back in and I'm finishing the two last levels of the Solar Casino, and I've changed up my weapons. I was using a shotgun- one shot if you let the fuckers get close but they can get ya and each touch infects you more- I'm using my new upgraded smg with upgraded barrel and heat sinc. I'll keep my long knife handy though. Can't wait till I can upgrade that..
