Thinking about picking this up. How comfy is it?
>>
Rorona is graphically inferior to Totori and Meruru.
This was so bad, that they completely redid the graphics in Rorona Plus to match the visual quality of the other 2 games.

The problem is that NISA only had the rights to localize the original games, while Koei Tecmo has released the Plus versions and all future Ateliers.

Totori and Meruru's plus versions add some trivial DLC costumes, but Rorona Plus is definitely a huge step up over the original.
If you buy this bundle, make sure to get Rorona Plus.
>>
>comfy

it's actually insanely stressful
>>
Why aren't any of those on steam yet, hell not even Mana Khemia
>>
>>345069972

So is Rorona is this pack the original?
>>
>>345069264
Don't pick up all of them at once in case you don't like it. Pick up Rorona+ or Meruru to see if you like it
>>
It's okay, but get Rorona Plus. The original Rorona is kind of bad.
>>
>>345070086
Mana Khemia is emulatable so who cares about any of the other games?
>>
>>345070119
yes
also, rorona plus was the only one of the plus versions to land on PS3 and in physical format.
>>
>>345070119
Yeah. Get the the collection and Atelier rorona plus. Don't play rorona from the collection.
>>
>>345070135
but this bundle is $20
before the bundle existed, I spent $60 on all 3 games separately.
>>
>>345070086
gust has repeatedly stated that they want nothing to do with the perverts on the PC platform

koei tecmo is also fucking retarded and hates money, so there's basically zero chance of a steam release, ever.
not even for rorona plus, a 7 year old PS3 title.
>>
>>345069972
So NISA has nothing to do with Atelier? Awesome.

How's Atelier Sophie?
>>
This is just a NISA cash grab, get the Plus on vita.

Isn't there a Plus version of this collection on the Vita?
>>
>>345070504
Yeah for 80 dollars. You save 40. if you buy it.
>>
>>345069264
get this and then get rorona plus
rorona original looks like shit in comparison

no

also they never go on sale

Rorona is still a solid game, although the Plus version is much improved. Totori is the weakest of the bunch. Meruru is the best of the original versions but worse than Rorona Plus.

Rorona Plus > Meruru/Plus > Rorona vanilla > Totori/Plus
>>
Why hasn't this come to pc yet?
>>
>>345070617
You missed 50% off with plus during Golden Week sale

NISA is using Rorona Plus artwork to promote the original Rorona even though they don't have the rights to the Rorona Plus artwork or game

How is this not illegal
>>
The chibi Dreamcast-era models of Rorona are charming as fuck. You guys are all plebs.
>>
>>345070703
Have you seen the rorona plus artwork?
It's the one where she holds up the flask with both hands.
>>
How are the later games like ayesha and beyond?
>>
>>345070378

Wow, what a bunch of retards. Their loss.
>>
>>345070747
it doesn't even look like a PS3 game

granted, none of the atelier games look particularly graphically intensive, but they still manage to have frame rate drops when when nothing is happening on screen.
>>
>>345070576
Well fuck that then

>>
>>345070047
How so? They're just RPGs, right?
>>
>>345070804
Ayesha is great, and the best of the PS3/Vita games. Escha & Logy and Shallie are solid but not nearly as good as Ayesha, Rorona Plus, or Meruru. Haven't played Sophie yet.
>>
>>345070881

you're given a certain amount of days to complete an assignment and you have to start rationing your days traveling between towns, performing alchemy and resting to regain health.
>>
Can you still make tera bombs in rorona plus?
>>
>>345071164
Atelier Shallie and Sophie don't have time limits if you want to try them out.

Firis will have time limit for main story but no limit afterwards.
>>
>>345071314
Yeah but they're nowhere near as gamebreaking as the original though so I never bothered. You do get to craft super-powerful recipes like the Infinite Meteor in the post-game though.
>>
>>345071164
It's worth noting that time only advances when you commit to an action; you don't have to rush around everywhere. Planning, not speed, is what's important.
>>
>>345071164
Main quests are easy as fuck to complete though. Oftentimes you can finish them within a month and have the remain 2 to do whatever fuck all you want.
>>
>>345069264
>they release this but not Dynasty Warriors 2-5 HD

Fucking Koei.

I never got these games, I can never get past the openings, they always drive me into a "NEED MANLINESS" Kind of mood.
I don't normally say this about games like Atelier, but that shit is to fucking girly.
>>
>>345072848
>koei
>>
>>345072850
You should probably just stick to playing Mana Khemia then.
>>
>>345072850
could be your latent homosexuality thats the root cause of this because its still just a game at the end of the day.
>>
>>345071302
>>345072235

Well if it's not that big of a deal then maybe I'll look into them

What's like, the draw of the game? I know /v/ has a good amount of Atelier fans but I never hear much about it anywhere else.

Is the gameplay unique? Is the story good?
>>
so is atelier like neptunia except in renaissance europe, basically?

>>
>>345075380

>>
>>345075397
i like the one where the guy buys 2 roronas and shares one with a friend as a joke and then he gets forced to crossdress because his friend thinks hes a sissy
>>
>>345074491
They play nothing like Neptunia.
>>
Why does this game have such a dedicated following yet I never see anyone actually discuss gameplay, ever?

I notice the same thing happens in neptunia threads, except they're a lot more honest about tolerating their shit game just for the cute girls.
>>
Just got my Rorona+ copy in the mail, plan to get on it soon.
Are the other two Arland trilogy games needed to have a complete story or are just "more of same cast and setting" and standalone apart fron that?
>>
>>345076318
You missed the threads. Atelier is hard to discuss gameplay because of the crafting variables. And PC players haven't played VII yet for neptunia
>>
>>345077103
They're like standalone expansion packs. Don't play them back to back or you'll probably get burned out, since each game can take multiple playthroughts to complete.
>>
>>345077364
Wouldn't it be easier to call them separate games?

Also, is this multiple playthrough thing due to the multiple endings?

Nice, thank you.

Art is done by one of my all-around favourite artist so i was planning to grab the whole thing eventually anyway, if they're separate games then there's no rush.

Their features and overall quality vary a bit by entry, but in general it's a pretty good JRPG series. The alchemy and time management mechanics are largely what make it stand out, but some of the games also have quite good combat and exploration. The plot also tends to focus on the protagonist completing personal objectives rather than reacting to some villain plotting to end the world or something.

>>345074491
No.
>>
>>345078120
I could see vanilla Rorona's being kind of challenging to a series newcomer. But all of the games after that were either super lenient or eliminated the time management altogether. Honestly I didn't mind it being removed because I never had to pay attention to it in the games due to how lenient they were, but some people are strongly triggered by them taking it out. Didn't really make a difference to me though.
>>
i bought all the arland games and i haven't opened a single one lol
>>
>>345069264

Good, the games have a learning curve and it takes a while to get use to how to make decent weapons and accessories, but when you crack it you become incredibly OP and can take on anything. The time limit in the can make them rather stressful for new players, but providing on your first playthrough you get an ending you'll tick over to NG+ and if you have items like the travellers shoes and harvesting gloves you will go a lot faster on NG+ and have more time to explore and do stuff. Games are great fun though, when you get into them.

My honest advice would be to play Meruru first as it's the easiest or the three, then when you understand how everything works play Totori and then finally Rorona.
