What games does it have on it

that depends entirely on the games
the n64 was like 90% boring platformers, but I would kill for games like rogue squadron in HD

how did they fit the games inside an n64

Judging on the NES mini and what was actually available on the Wii VC& Wii U eshop I'd go with:

>Super Mario 64
>Mario Kart 64
>Paper Mario
>Kirby & The Crystal Shards
>Ocarina of Time
>Majora's Mask
>Smash Bros
>Yoshi's Story
>Wave Race 64
>Star Fox 64
>Donkey Kong 64
>Sin & Punishment
>Mystical Ninja Goemon
>Mischief Makers
>Ogre Battle 64

I could see Cruisin' USA, 1080, Pokemon Snap and Bomberman Hero making the cut since Nintendo had them up on Wii too.

No. But that's mostly because my actual N64 still works and I have a lot of perfectly functional cartidrages.
And, why did they decide to give the classic NES 30 games anyways? That's the same number of games the Virtual Boy had.

PS1 games have aged like milk, whereas most of the best N64 games are still so good all Nintendo needs to do is slap a coat of paint on them and let you play them with a non-dogshit controller and they're better than most new games on the market. If you take the number of PS1 games that are actually worth playing today (mostly the RPG's and 2D stuff) the gap between the N64 and PS1's library closes considerably.
>>
>>345052719
I never played Mischief Makers, Ogre Battle, or Sin & Punishment.

Would definitely like to see Cruisin' USA, Bomberman Hero, and Pokemon Snap on there.

>>
Do you think Nintendo might start doing this with other consoles? I mean shit, if it comes with things like 1080p support and HDMI output then that's pretty worth it for $60.

The NES version might be alright but I definitely could see this being amazing for something like a Gamecube-mini having shit like

>Fzero
>Super Mario Sunshine
>Custom Robo
>Mario Kart DD
>The Mario Parties
>Paper Mario TTYD

And other stuff

That would actually be pretty damn good if they did that.

Currently the main bs going on right now seems to be the lack of backwards compatability and how it's pretty much disappeared. If Nintendo pulled out a console that could play *all* of the older console games physically/digitally, that would definitely shake things up.

You realize that Nintendo, the creators of the Nintendo 64, have all the relevant documents detailing the internal workings of the system and games, allowing them to more easily craft an accurate emulator, right? Emulator devs do not have this luxury, they have to reverse engineer everything.

Not that guy, but Ocarina of Time has no good emulator besides the GCN disks running on a Gamecube/Wii. I don't know what it is about the disk, or why but the Wii VC version is the worst official release of OoT because white lines everywhere, autojump detection fails, and lag. From what I know, the Wii U version fixes this, but compromises the brightness of the game because of some screen protection filter.

Oddly, I've also heard on /v/ that Dark Link is progressively easier in every re-release of Ocarina of Time whereas he's unbeatable in the original sword to sword. That notwithstanding;

OOT on hardware > GCN version > OoT3D > PJ64/Wii U VC > Wii

I should add, only OOT is good on disk. The Zelda 1, AoL, and MM emulators suck.

Project 64 is garbage, and the Wii U VC is the worst version of OoT. The only advantage Wii U VC has is rumble support. The picture quality is extremely dark and pixelated, and there's noticable input lag as well.

OoT 3D > OoT N64 (v1.0) > Master Quest GCN > Collector's Edition GCN > Wii VC > Project 64 > Wii U VC

There is a custom made version of Ocarina for VC that as far as I know it undo all that shit, plus de-censoring the whole game.

If it got released in Japan, had near perfect emulation and ran different games than those that are already available on Wii/U then maybe.

But thanks to new graphics emulation with libretro, N64 emulation might get good enough on PC that it wouldn't matter.

A lot of these aren't possible (Banjo, 007, etc) because Rare is owned by Microsoft. The only reason we got DKC and DK64 on VC is because Nintendo owns the rights to the characters.

Yeah, I want to inject a v1.0 wad of OoT onto my Wii so I can play the original uncensored version in native 480p with a GameCube controller. I'd also like to see a de-censored Master Quest .wad that I can inject on to the Wii.

Both with the rumble feature restored hopefully.

I seriously doubt if N64 mini happens, which it probably will, that Rare games would be on it given they still aren't on VC/eshop short of DKC64 and on top of that, there's no way they'd put 30 games up for $60 when N64 games go for twice as much as NES games on the eshop.

Nintendo isn't one to do "bargins" often, so I'd guess if NES mini is 30 for 60, SNES mini would be around 22 for 60 and N64 mini would be 15 for 60.

The Lost Woods is mute when you have to find Saria, and is almost the first three floors of Ganon's Castle. The v.1.0 cart can't do music transitioning. That's why I mentioned Malon, because her singing (also forgot about Lon Lon Ranch), uses that too.

>But we were talking about fun gameplay

Yeah, and SPECIFICALLY about how there isn't any other factor that that is fun about a game. With text adventures or whatever, READING TEXT isn't fun. It's about imagining the scenario as if you were there, and being able to influence what is happening with choices. Hence, again, "gameplay" is the only part of a game that can be fun.

One of the perks N64 had for being cart-based is that it can run multiple sound channels at once. Banjo uses this a lot, and OoT used it (I don't know it MM did). But 1.0 had something buggy. The music plays but it's extremely muffled. You can tell you're playing 1.0 if when you start your save file in the tower of Ganon's Castle, there's no music playing.

Well if you want the Pierre's Song encore, then music-wise, the good old 1.2 is the best. If you don't care about recording a song for the ending, then, GCN version has high-res textures on signs, and it has rumble unlike the other versions.
