3 is the best game in the franchise.
2 is shit because all the boss patterns are simplistic as fuck and you just have to rapid fire to kill everything because they have basically no invulnerability.
3 added the power slide and for once the boss patterns were interesting and their invulnerability made it so you couldn't just rapid fire and kill them in 3 seconds.
This is also before 4 introduced the charge shot and ruined everything. 3 is literally the best and only good classic mega man game.

It wasn't perfect true, but hardware has evolved to a point where a mini N64 emulator could probably run on hardware that costs $100 or less. And from what I understand the proprietary emulator used for VC is pretty good these days, albeit on better hardware.
