Nothing illustrated this more to me than playing Planetside 2 when it first came out. No thought involved just run along with the crowd.

Developers want to do a victory lap with their technology and apply it to a property that begs for it, I'll take it. But Game Freak copy and pasting through literally 2 decades? No thank you.
Part of the appeal of the first gen is since there's only 151, catching them all is reasonable possible.
