It's not as strong as just having two damage dealers.
Like:
Pharah + Mercy boost = 1.5x damage
Pharah + Pharah = 2x damage
I mean, Mercy is a support, but while she's damage boosting she's only contributing an amount of damage that's equal to 50% of the person she's boosting. In many situations she'd be contributing more by just shooting enemies with her pistol instead of boosting an ally.

Mercy boost is fundamental cancer.
She's already a mandatory pick, if you removed damage amp off her, halved her healing beam and removed her pistol she would STILL be a 100% pick because of her ult.

I think the idea is that they've mostly buried the hatchet now that Ana is back. She is a tank, but even with the new matrix she would still die faster than rein with her critbox and have less shield uptime than him.
The only redeeming quality is that her matrix doesn't care about numbers. It's the perfect tradeoff right now.

Calm down with the melodrama. It could stand to have a bit of a cooldown so you can't just toggle whenever you feel like it to completely negate entire characters. She only needed slight buffs, she instead got quite a few. Her shield is the least powerful of them but also the most egregious in terms of bad design. You can't play around it at all. Everything else you can.

The major difference is three-fold.
1. She can do so regardless of distance
2. It doesn't give a shit about the enemy teams spacing depending on who she ults, group, ungrouped who cares.
3. They are completely autonomous during this so there is no need for her to stick around the guy to keep it happening.
It's pretty god damn broken at the moment. The counters are as follows, Mercy has to live to ult the people killed, or you have to play Ana and sleep the boosted guy.
