I have no idea why but I really enjiydd playing sentinel, with the tech armor and a few biotic powers I felt indestructible no matter how many times I got swarmed. Plus all of the more tanky characters are sort of Meh except for Grunt/wrex, but Grunt/Wrex old after multiple play throughs.

It's really a shame. Especially since Ragnarok needed you to totally ruin your prospects of doing anything but forge if you wanted to make good weapon. At least alchemists were special even after crazy event healing items.
Wouldn't even be that bad if you didn't make the best stuff, but you could craft unique stuff. Like in a dungeon crawler the ability to craft a long version of the normal mace so your healer could do something from the back row. Or just making unique looking armor/weapons for fashion sake.

Tanky classes are the most boring. Paladins, knights, whatever you wanna call em. If it's an mmo you're slow as shit and stnd there and get hit a lot so everyone else can focus on having fun. If it's an SRPG they generally have garbage movement and don't even deal that much damage. If it's a party-based RPG the only skills they have that actually matter are a defense buff or a cover move. If it's an ARPG they're slow as hell and just not as fun to play as the other available classes.

Mages are usually boring as fuck. You expect actual magic, but because devs often lack creativity all you get are bullets disguised as magic. Ask yourself, what's the real difference between casting a fireball at someone and just shooting them?
I'd like to see a video game where magic is mostly ritual based and used for non-combat utility like remote scrying, possession and talking to spirits, and if you want to hurt someone you have to walk up and stab the nigger like everyone else.

Monk is hard to balance, but has also legitimately never been done well. Half their attributes revolve around removing equipment from the equation, which means by necessity they have to be weaker in terms of raw power because otherwise they'd be characters that have top-tier-equipment equivalent strength actually needing equipment.
The ideal role for that type of character is to grant utilities to make up their lack of combat power, such as efficient (big fucking emphasis on "efficient") positioning support but instead it's just gimmicky shit like RNG status effects, flurries, or the ability to be a shitty wizard at the same time as being a shitty fighter.
