You have the right idea. Actual games on mobile are usually ports from other platforms. I hear you can even play Baldur's Gate on android.
Hearthstone is pretty good, if you like those kind of games.
Just go on google and type "best paid android games", then look for games that don't have in app purchases and look interesting.
Then, depending on what you usually do, buy it or pirate it.
You'll have way more fun than with that free trash.

As someone who has looked high and low for a long time I can safely say that phone games are nearly always shit. The best mobile only games are actually casual shit, shallow platformers or cheap, simple RPGs. The only actual exception I've foun happened to be decent FF ports and gameboy emulators (which you can still only play a few games with). I still feel it's possible for good to come out of mobile, but it's being ruined by how the app store/android market is run. Only cash grabs designed for small children make it to the top, everything else is choked out. There's probably plenty of hidden jems, but it's too much work for a regular person to sort through.

Where does one pirate mobile apps and games?
If you like Marvel at all or even if you just like some of the designs, Marvel Future Fight is a great game imo.
Been playing since last October and I love it, they made really easy to start playing and getting high tier characters early, and they have free item giveaways almost every week and update every other month or so.
