Im downloading Morrowind right now, i've never played it, even tho i've been playing all others TES and FO games. ( Arena, Oblivion etc). Any tips? I've lurked enough here to know just a couple things (i.e. Attacks always miss, mages are op, guilds are fantastic) Im all hear /v/.

No matter what character you plan, you'll eventually end up with long blade and heavy armor.

Also, take the expensive plate in the first office where you set your character traits, drop it before getting caught, get reprimanded then pick it up again to sell. Easy 500 gold right at the start.

I was actually thinking about that when I was playing the other day. I kept hearing this weird noise and didnt know what it was, until I saw the scribs slapping their ass on the ground. Its pretty cute.
Install OpenMW and enjoy better lighting and some fixed bugs while retaining the models and everything that makes Morrowind Morrowind.
serious question: how would you people feel if everyone had unique dialogue? so there wouldnt be as much available for all the NPCs, but it would all be unique. would that be better, or worse?

If you played Skyrim first then you will find Morrowind absolutely boring.
The combat/gameplay, dungeons, wikipedia npcs, no voice-acting, enemies, levelling, soundtrack, graphics, etc, are absolute shit in Morrowind.

Don't really know how to explain it, but I just love the "static" feel of the game. I like how when you enter an area, things are just as they are. It really helps me get a feel for the lore and the environment: one of my favorite things to do was poke around in people's houses and see what items they have around, and imagingine what their lifestyle was like.
It's strangely comfy. I know this kind of static nature wouldn't fly for today's gamers, but I prefer it in a lot of ways. I don't necessarily need a game world to feel totally alive, just lived in, like a meticulous diorama.

I prefer it when no one moves around. I know that sounds weird. Maybe Im just kind of autistic. I like when everything just stays as it is, unless a quest changes it.
Morrowind just really hits that feeling of being totally about lore and just finding out as much about the environment as you can. For instance I always thought it was interesting to find moon sugar or skooma in someone's house. Or just seeing the various scatterings and decorations around the guild houses.

What really bothered me about Bloodmoon was that bears and wolves ALWAYS attacked you. The Skall made a big deal about respecting the land and the creatures, but how do you do that when they just keep attacking and trying to kill you? I would have left them alone if they left me alone.

If you leave stuff in crates out in public it will disappear. If you leave stuff in crates in "private" areas it won't. The best thing to do is use Caius Cosades' house or kill some peasant and claim their house as your own. Try not to get caught murdering a peasant for their house, it's frowned upon.
