Hell, if I had money for 1080, I'd buy it and use it while still gaming on my 1080p/60hz monitor. Just so that I could have silky smooth 60fps with seriously Ultra everything, including real AA, instead of post-processing shit.

this is the right thing to do, 980 owners were shitfucked last gen considering how strong the 970 was for its price and how much better the 980 ti ended up being. of course this is mostly conjecture at the moment but I'd be willing to bet that the same thing will be true this time around. with both cards at stock speeds the 1070 is at most 10-20% worse than the 1080 despite costing 200+ dollars less. just hold it out until the 1080 ti, I'm sure you'll regret it if you don't

I feel poor. I have set aside about 400-500 bucks for a new vidya card. I need a beefier card to run Doom at 3440x1440 really. Currently playing it on high with Vulkan enabled, managing about50-60fps.
