It gets better the more you go to these threads. Just don't replay ZTD and it will be fine.
>>344859963
To be fair, you can figure out the answers to the questions that aren't about the 999 cast after finishing ZTD.
But a lot of stuff from VLR did get dropped for whatever reason.
>>344860210
The worst part about it is that anyone who managed to leave aside from the true end would never have been able to find help because they're on the moon and only Dio knows the terrain
>>344860210
you talking about vlr?
How does delta even know about the future timeline that 8 billion people die anyway? Did he read the mind of some future shifter? Surely there must be at least 1 timeline in the future someone finds out his identity due to the infinite number of possible timelines, shifts back to the past and inform people of who he is and kill him before he does his crap.

So has there been any news regarding a Q&A yet?
>>344864865
I hated the Memory Fragments system.
I found the dub to be mediocre, shame because VLR had an amazing dub.
Puzzles were simple.
Other than that, it was en enjoyable experience. I liked the characters and the twists.
>>344865129
http://www.strawpoll.me/10670353/
To be fair, the poll has around 700 votes.
>>344864865
The game is good enough until you reach the last third. I think most people enjoyed the ride, but for me personally the ending really ruins the whole experienceand VLR to some extend.
>>344865482
This. I loved the ride and was really invested, but the last third and the conclusion made the whole experience sour for me.
What did people think about the memory fragment system? I liked it, but I felt it created a far more linear game than I would've liked. There was only really 4 timelines and each is really simple. I likes the variety of scenarios that VLR diverged into, and I felt like that was misinng for the most part. I would've fixed it by destroying the specific team setups (Keeping three to each with one leader in each, but mixing up the members). Mechanically, what would you guys've done to fix it?
>>344865302
Not to mention the poll was made at the height of the hatred, when shitposting was in full force
>>344866316
I didn't like it because it made me feel lest invested about what happened. But at least they took some risks trying to do something new, and I like that
>>344866893
Yeah, I liked it. It just made me feel less invested, and feel like the complexity of the story took a step back from VLR. But they tried something new and I appreciate that
>>344859746
'My motives are often complex', nailed it.
>>344866316
I thought there would be more situations where they'd woken up and forgotten stuff so you got really confused about what happened previously and the timeline of events.
But each branch was pretty much 'Just after the execution' and then another bit.
I suppose getting rid of multiple timelines wouldve solved that but that's the point of the game
>>344867254
Yeah. I would've almost preferred they didn't have the executions, because that would solve that problem. It'd allow the timeline to branch more at various points, instead of the execution and Carlos's shifting for the most of them like we got.
>>344859746
That was amazing
>>344859746
Wesker's voice is so relaxing.
>>344866316
It could have been used much better. Major problem I had with the fragment system was, that instead of going vertically through a flowchart we had to go horizontally. This would've been fine if they used in some clever ways, like two fragments being after each other according to the time on their watches, but actually being switched chronologically after the reveal or thinking C-Team got executed after the vote, when in fact they got unlucky with the dice roll.
As of now, you never need to think about when or in which timeline a fragment happens. No need to puzzle about the correct order of events. Also in my case it even spoiled the outcome of other fragments likeJunpei's decapitated head.
>no CIA guy x Zero memes
CALL THE COPS
Anyone want to do a Eric and Sean version of this?
>>344869223

I'm so glad I pirated it
so, was kyle gab or was kyle the snail?
I blame the budget but I did genuinely enjoy the game for the most part.
Things that annoyed me:
>bootstrap paradox
>no Kyle/?/Blick Winkel
>"invisible" delta as on option for the Perceptive End
>Gab wasn't Zero/Kyle/Blick Winkel
>No liberal use of super speed chess shifting by Sigma and Phi early on
>No liberal emotionless eldritch horror of Akane ruthless using the morphogenic field to take Carlos and Junpei for a ride
>speaking of that, why is Akane all NOT millions of years of pent up emotions for Junpei and the world and puts the same ruse of a face from 999?

>>344882535
Actually if I remember correctly during the shower execution phase when you do the vote to push the button Eric does call out Sean
>>344866316
I found the fragment system really disappointing too. I like the idea of a non-linear narrative but in practice, having the characters' memories erased every 90 minutes meant that there was no build-up or development, it was just the same isolated drama in a vacuum on repeat until they found out how to get around it. I didn't like the team setup either, it made us miss out on what could have been some great interactions between the other characters. It's a shame because I thought Sean and Carlos were great additions to the cast but their potential was practically flushed down the toilet because of how rushed this was.

There are so many questions still unanswered. We don't even know ifCarlos shot Delta.
Also, what was withQ/Delta/Sean? They had been calling the little robot boy Q the entire time, and even he was surprised when he found out his name was Sean. As soon as Delta is introduced, they start calling the robot boy Sean, even though they shouldn't have known that name.

>>344871418
D team force quit box is dangerously spoilery if you figure out the solution.
>>344885421They never called him Q, he was always Sean but the game played a bit of a dirty trick by not having them call his name out loud until the reveal (unless you get the Perceptive End early, also if you input Sean in "who killed Mira", Eric will say "I knew it was you" and shoot him). Go back and reread the dialogue for Reality, Zero wasn't teaching Sean his name, just that he was modeled after a boy with the same name as him.

>>344889263
>>344889332
That just makes the need for VLR for Akane less sensible. Delta and Phi were the only ones that actually needed it to happen then.
>>344889668
I believe they explained this with muh morphogenic fields connect to people though time, so she was always connected with junpei and she never died.
>>344889992
But the fact is the original Akane would have no future to connect to, morphogenetic fields are just the tool to connect. It's a bootstrap paradox, but one with the morphogenetic field as a reason for information to time travel. There can be no original Akane in this set up.

>>344885849
ThisZero was there the whole timetwist makes less sense the more I think about it.How did the Q team convey the plan to Q if he was blind and deaf? If they didn't, then that would mean they'd be gambling that he'd unknowingly follow the plan. Why didn't the conversation afterwards reflect this? Who was taking care of him at D com? Diana? If so, why didn't she inquire about him in the ending where Sigma gets his arms blown off and Q team dies?

>>344890512
I have a hard time being THAT mad because there are a lot of obvious signs the game was super strained for time and budget, and I got enough joy and horror out of it that I don't regret playing but god damn so much missed potential
With the cast they had plus Kyle plus all the anticipation from VLR I expected to be fucking blown away but honestly I was more stunned by the twists in Ever17 and VLR and I had half those games spoiled for me beforehand. Either they were foreshadowed so much it was impossible not to know (Phi is their daughter) or they didn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense (Delta has been there the whole time and deliberately blows his own head off/gives himself an acid bath because COMPLEX MOTIVES).
I think it all comes down to VLR fucking up and promising what it couldn't deliver, honestly. 999 kept the scope appropriately small (even if it went full retard with morphogenetic field at the end), VLR blew it up to crazy proportions and ZTD had to shrink again.
>>344891038
12 inches because that' s a joke he tells Phi in VLR

So Sean will forever be aheadless robot? Kinda sucks compared to his virtual reality end.

We need more material born from people playing around with the character models.
The potential is limitless.
>>344892194
why doesn't sigma just build sean a head
>>344892204
Anyone else notice how he looks EXACTLY like an Xcom thinman? Did they do that because there´sactual aliens mentioned?
Reminder that in this current year, most of the cast will only be around 10 years old and thus not for sexual.
>>344891253
Oh I shouldn't have read this. Oh well, I've stopped caring about the game kinda outside of D and C. Even the overarching plot I don't give much of a shit about.
>>344892480
>coming into a ZE thread and not expecting to be spoiled
>>344892362
Maybe it'd generate enough interest in the game to keep these threads afloat?
...Nevermind, that's wistful thinking.
If your future children played the ZE trilogy and ranted to you about ZTD's ending, what would you say to them?
>>344892725
I love Sigmas facepalm
>>344891750
I usually find kid characters annoying, that's why I was pleasantly surprised that all of his emotional moments resonated with me when the rest of the game left me feeling numb and uncaring. I think the amnesia was explored much better than past games too, his reasoning for staying behind in one of the endings makes a lot of sense and the concept of the game and the team he's with being all he knows and therefore all he has reason to care about was interesting to me. Eric is big laughs whenever he gets his hands on a weapon but I can see why people wouldn't like him I guess. I got nothing for Mira though, she's just okay.
>>344892838
The whole scene with Sean getting better after surgery made me teary eyed since I went through the same as a kid.
>>344892725
I though it was hilarious howthey had no remorse when switching with their other timeline selves before the end but then it´s all "WE CANT DO THAT ITS UNETHICAL".
>>344892194
Sigma or Delta made a human head for him after the events of the game, probably.
>>344892738
Probably stay quiet or hope that sort of continuation story will be released that fixes at least a quarter of the fucked up things in ZTD.
...I doubt that ZE4 will ever occur, but if Uchi does have any passion left in him for the ZE universe then maybe it'd happen?
>>344893419
We were lucky enough that he had even something like a budget for ZTD
>>344883140
This is what I thought would happen going in. Really thought there would be cool gameplay elements about trying to get characters to remember things from the last time they were awake by writing on the walls or something, or Zero fooling you into thinking you've woken already when you hadn't, etc. I think everyone else will agree, but how short and unimpactful the true ending was bothered me. I know writing a conclusion, especially to a trilogy, can be tough, but it just felt so nothing
>>344891495
Uh, you are right. ZTD is a huge mess desu.
>>344892480
Sorry guy, the game's been out long enough that I forget to use black bars most of the time and I figure people still playing aren't crazy enough to read anything that isn't a direct response to them (although reading the threads at all before you finish is pretty crazy if you ask me).
>>344866316
I thought that the fragment system was pointless. What was the purpose of deceiving the player about where they were in the timelines? It just confuses readers and diminishes the emotional engagement: And there's no blick winkel here to be summoned.
>>344893618
I double-checked what I wrote and I fucked up--I meant to say that if Uchi had any passion in him left for the universe, maybe he'd bother to write a story in order to wrap up some loose threads. I didn't mean to suggest that he'd make ZE4.

I just stayed away for so long to avoid spoilers, but I burned out so quick that I've been coming by every now and then. I want to be in the discussions while they're still around yet I kinda don't feel like finishing the game. It's my own choice and a dumb one but eh. I know how to skim most things. It's just a shame so many people seem down on the game.
Soundtrack and Carlos were at least some stellar new additions. And D team is maximum comfy as a VLR fanboy, I just love them so damn much.
I'll finish this assignment and then fire up the game, I gotta finish it this week.
>>344895086
That entire ending scene could have been delta dragging his old shriveled balls all over the casts face and not much would change.
>>344894637Sigma kinda did that with the whole banging Diana during one timeline and during another.

Why doesn't Uchi write up a novella or something wrapping up the series? Something like Grimoire Nier where it's basically a lorebook.
Hell, making a "Zero Escape Encyclopedia" would generally be better than relying on a fourth game or a simple Q&A for any answers, it could have interviews as well as art, etc
>>344895164I can't believe my awful meme drawing is still going around...

Junpei dies in the D team execution timeline, but SHIFTs all over the place, even to timelines where he's been killed, so he gets a lot more screen time. Phi dies and stays dead and never does anything even when she's alive.
>>344897656
Was it actually explained what happened to Phi in that timeline when she just vanished?
>>344897871Phi is only ever executed or incinerated. If you mean when D team wakes up to the announcement that she's dead, then looks all over for her, that takes place after Diana chooses not to shoot. So Phi's been toasted, they just obviously don't remember that.

So I haven't beaten the game, but I recently got the whole zero twist.
I've been reading the thread and have yet to see even one spoiler that I haven't encountered yet.
So my question is this... does ANYTHING even remotely surprising happen in the final ending? Just a yes or no would suffice.By the way, shit sucks. I'm fairly devastated.
>>344900785
The ending is pretty complex
>>344900785

>>344900785
The zero twist shocked me more than any of the other games combined although I found it early so that might be part of it, but I can't imagine how you figured it out without having it spoiled for you which would obviously neuter the impact.
>>344898956
I did. I liked Akane. I must have heard 'm-matte kudasai!' 100 times from all 9 voice actors, lol
i don't know the first fucking thing about moonspeak, either
>>344900785
>does ANYTHING even remotely surprising happen in the final ending?
If you know what you're looking for, no.___Q___is telegraphed hard, and it's not a leap to realizethat's what Zero and Brother will end up being, and youonly really get introduced to one new name throughout the course of the game
>>344884060
He needed to create timelines where two teams died instead of one. Mostly for Carlos.
>>344901063
i didn't figure it out, i just passed that point
how many people here learned Q's name was Sean, went immediately back to that section, entered 'Sean', got an error, and thought 'Wait, how did they fuck that up?'
I kinda wish they had put in 'Sean is not Q's real name' instead of 'Error'. Then my mind would have been blown and some foreshadowing of the big twist would have been in place rather than a bigger asspull than some of the shit you see on ALS Scan or FTV Girls
>>344900785

why do people hate clover? she was pretty based in 999. (although i hated her redesign in VLR, character was weaker but still okay though.)
>>344900328
Guess that explains Jumpy being super-jealous at Carlos and having the ring always at hand just in case.
Also why didn´t Junpei give her the ring in other endings when they were in grave danger and he might not have a chance to confess?

>>344903785

>>344903560
Remember Axe ending? She killed FOUR innocent people that had nothing to do with the death of his brother, who wasn't evil dead. She was cruel because she didn't even finish Jumpei off, she left him there to die a slow and painful death.
In VLR? She only cares for Alice, dress like a slut and betrays the other players in many occasions, even going as far as leave them all to die of starvation by leaving through the gate as soon as she gets 9 BP.
>>344898956
I did for repeat playthroughs.
I also like to imagine that Akane and Junpei were trying to discuss their lives in Japanese but it turns out Carlos can understand a word they say so there was no point in hiding it.
>>344904020

They were fine with a confession but Ace decided to kill the Cradle staff. Akane even faints if the 9th man dies.
>>344904020
But Akane also killed 3 guys in this timeline and got up to 7 other ppl killed in other timelines in 999. And then she supports Sigma in VLR to get even more ppl killed in a lot of timelines.
999 was still the best, it always had that tense dread atmosphere and when ever there was death and the music played, I was always shitting my pants but VLR and ZTD didn't have that same feeling, it was more like oh that happened, time to jump!
>>344904823
>made the reactor explode in ZTD because "lol let's jump" killing D-Team
>caused Carlos death in one timeline
>left Sigma and Diana in the bunker leaving them to die and thus killing them (can even add baby Phi and Delta to the victims)
and I am sure I am forgetting other people
>b-but muh childhood friend trope! Akane and Junpei can do no wrong!
>>344904823
She's responsible for every murder in alternate timelines in 999. She locked innocent people in a supposed death game with a murderer and caused Clover to go psycho(I think she should get some slack, she was under a lot of psychological stress and paranoid).
>>344905334
Also the two cradle members that she blows up and that captain guy die in the "true" timeline.
>>344905080
Totally, the more dated visuals also surprisingly worked well with the setting, the boat was old school as fuck and ps1-esque graphics capture that feeling of a old ship.
Also the plot twist with Hongou was handled so fucking well like holy shit I felt so BETRAYED.
>>344905547
Well they weren't exactly innocent.
>>344905132
>left Sigma and Diana in the bunker leaving them to die and thus killing them (can even add baby Phi and Delta to the victims)
I still don't get this one, why the fuck did she do that knowing that there were two people alive? Status screen even says that she was alive the whole time. Why did she abandon them?
So Delta originally did the virus to save 2 billion and that ended up making Akane and the rest of the people do the events in VLR but then did Delta also know that in ZTD they would come back and doing so will possibly change the future to prevent the terrorist attack? Or was that something he planned out during ZTD because he can't shift.

Junpei and Akane's characters were so bizarre. It started out as Junpei being all like 'Fuck the others, let's kill 'em, nihilism is the way to go' and Akane countering with 'Junpei-kun no I love you don't say these things'
Then later Akane is all 'let's jump all over the shop and set off nukes and kill our counterparts by shifting them into death situations all the time' and Junpei is like 'Isn't that wrong? Oh wait I forgot you were like this'
Then Akane shanks Junpei with the chemicals... why? Christ, it was so bad

As for the 'why?'... in the apocalypse timeline why the fuck does Akane abandon Junpei after he has essentially proposed to her? Everything she has said up to that point leads you to the conclusion that this is the very last thing she'd do.
>>344907987
>The fuck do you mean "why?"
This is typically a word used to express a lack of understanding
>>344908120
what are you talking about she's following the timeline there, stupei isn't supposed to be with her.
>>344908113
If you choose Ally first, he picks Betray because he wants to leave with Akane and killing people is going to achieve that faster.
>>344908206
You mean the timeline she has no knowledge of because fragmented information?
>>344894112
Alice not last so automatically shit
>>344908206
How the fuck does she know what is or isn't meant to happen in that timeline, she has never visited the future. She shouldn't know about VLR or the AB game, right?
It has been years since I played VLR so perhaps I've forgotten something. But that made no sense to me.
>>344908120
I think she does it to protect him but yeah it´s pretty damn weird after Junpei sacrifices himself in other timelines for her and they totally could have become mastermind waifu and husbandu.
>>344908127I should slap your shit but first we need a Zero Escape version of this.
>>344908113
I'm pretty sure that was the same timeline Carlos voted for Q team instead of D team. If so, it makes perfect sense Junpei wouldn't trust Carlos seeing as how if Carlos betrayed he could get out.
>>344908113
No, he explains it with the "Assume everyone is a thief" speech
Carlos is the one that changes idea because he saw Junpei take betray
he still ends up killing 3 people
>>344908358
how new
>>344908305
>>344908347
Didn't she shift in the ending of VLR? From 2074 to 2028.
>>344908378
But he votes Ally when Carlos picks Betray. And that´s the same timeline. And he even said before he wasn´t able to use the morphogenetic field for a long time.
>>344901063
Here was my train of thought for Zero. From the moment I could force characters to press buttons against their will I thought:
"Ok since Blick Winkel isn't a part of any team that means they're probably the true Zero and the Zero from the first scene was a double. He's trying to do the Ever17 thing of creating a stable time loop to justify his existence before he starts fucking around"
The main idea being that I decided Zero was the PoV character and had mind control abilities.
Once Delta was born I just changed Blick to him because he was the only other named character in the plot. Went to the stand-off to test my theory and sure enough Sean shot towards the camera when Delta was entered.
>>344908113
Oh, you picked betray first? If you pick ally first, he tells you that he did it to protect Akane and "Phi" (For some reason) and that he thought Charlos was going to choose betray because of her imouto, but he never mentions Carlos betraing him in another timeline.
>>344908350
>protect him
>R6 is gonna kill 6 billion
>reactor is gonna blow
Dumb Akane poster
>>344908523
If she did (I don't remember) you'd think that ZTD would fucking mention it at least once.
>>344885835
No more so than using your brain as soon as we saw the famitsu scans
>>344908523
No, she did not.
If Delta wanted to make sure he was born, why didn't he just explain to Sigma and Dianna and force them to fug?
Problem solved.
>>344908651
What? I said i´m as confused by her choice as anyone else. Explain to me why she did it please?
>>344908554
No i picked Ally first and i expected Junpei to betray me. What confused me was Junpei picking Ally when i picked betray.
>>344908956
Wouldn´t even be hard to do as they were attracted to each other in the first place. Just go up to them like "Yo, can you two get a room? That´d be real neato." No need for the whole life and death game.
>>344908956
Epigenetics are a bit more COMPLEX than that.
>>344908961
It sure as well wasn't to protect him considering she later uses him and his Quarku to power up Sigma's and Phi's jump.
>>344908961
>rurururu~
goddamnit K was so cute, him not being in ZTD is bullshit
Just finished ZTD today. I have one question.
How did Junpei go from one of the most likable protagonists of all time too one of the worst people in the franchise? What were they thinking?
>>344909589
>most likable protagonists of all time
Amazon finally shipped my package.
I should have just pirated it instead of actually believing amazon. What was I thinking.
>>344909589
If it was an entirely new character, I would've liked him. Instead they had to use Junpei for whatever reason.
>>344909589
They explain it with him working undercover and seeing a lot of fucked up shit. But that still doesn´t explain his character bouncing from one extreme to the other every two sentences.
>>344909589
You should have read the interview uchi did right before the release (i don't know if anyone translated it though)
In that said that he basically had to forcibly come up with an excuse to make jumpy dark and broody because carlos was already the righteous hero of the group, and there couldn't be two heroes in one groupwhy didn't he just put junpei in another group or make a new character? fucking retard
>>344907858

>>344909968
But why even include Junpei? He didn't need to be there. Akane, Sigma, and Phi all did for plot reasons, technically Diana too, but Junpei could've been removed and it would've all still basically made sense. Better yet, why not just have Carlos not be as righteous as he appears. Make him selfish and willing to sacrifice other people for his sister. Adds depth to his character.
Deep and complex motives:1) Create timeline where radical 6 is released, killing 75% of the population, but a fanatic who would have killed 100% along with it because apparently a quantum computer aided by a transporter and mind hacking can't find one dude.
2) Cause his own birth and kickin' rad superpowers.
3) Grant a dead little boy's dreams by giving him a happyvirtuallife (that's sweet but I'm not sure why it had to be a decision game).
4) Create a team of shifting superheroes to stop the fanatic somehow.
Am I missing anything?
>>344910575
>Akane, Sigma, and Phi all did for plot reasons
Phi was in this game?
>>344910362
Porting costs money too! ZE is fucked, Uchi is kill, Delta did 9/11.

Anyone got a link to the spongebob video?
I lost the link
>>344910575
My guess is fanservice.
You know, if he really wanted to bring back a 999 character for C-team Santa would've worked so much better. He can still have Carlos be a shonen hero this way, without having to ruin a character from a previous game
What is the worst puzzle and why is it the heart?
>>344910575
Junpei was at the Mars test site according to VLR. I think it'd make more sense for Akane to not be a participant.

>>344910873
Was he? I don't remember, it's been so long.
>>344910892

I completed that in a few seconds tapping randomly before I even registered the logic behind it.
>>344910575

>>344910992
>>344911079

>>344911085
I got it on my first try by following my gut
>>344910873
He part of mission control, he said he never participated in the experiment, also Akane wasn't a part of the experiment either. Since the memory loss drugs only work on the last few hours you'd think he'd remember being part of the experiment with Akane for nearly a week.

In the Infirmary. They insert an SD card they found elsewhere that wasn't used for the puzzle and the big TV there plays the recording.
>>344911168
Young Sigma doesn't have any of Old Sigma's memories until he experiences them for himself.
>>344910575
because most 999fags only bought the game to see if Akane and Junpei got "the happy ending"
>>344904420
Probably the transporter, which brings up a shitload of questions
>>344911218
The whole connection to the VLR plot seems really like an afterthought, huh
Be honest with me, would you have liked to have Kyle and Aoi in ZTD instead of Akane and Junpei?
>>344911656
I kept expecting some twist like "Akane actually being Nonna or someone else in disguise and "Sigma" being Kyle while the actual masterminds were working behind the scenes.

Yes

Actually that reminds me, why did Zerostrangle Mira in one timeline but then lets her go in the true end and that other end where she and Sean escape?
>>344912025
I honestly think it's a really complex and multifaceted issue that doesn't have a simple answer. The moment-to-moment quality ranges so severely that it genuinely swings from moments of real genius to batshit retardation, and it does this on a regular basis.
>>344912451
But then the Clover that was copied would go into future Clover. Now I'm just imagining them constantly SHIFTing and fighting for control over the past's body.

Only Uchi fanboys blame it on the budget. Uchi dropped the ball hard with this game.
>>344913510
The writing is still solid in most parts, it just falls apart towards the end.
What if this is the wrong path and the team of shifters leads to the birth of the terrorist who now has superpowers.
>>344913510
which subpar writing? this is the best written game since 999

>The writing is still solid in most parts
it's shit from the very start where sigma goes HEY I'M FROM 2074 GUYS LET'S ALL STOP THE VIRUS
What was with the blood in the medical room? The lockers and shit
>>344913510
I blame time as much as budget. Rather than one writer with a strong vision making it a cohesive story it's outsourced to multiple writers and never really comes together, and with such short development time the planning is rather slipshod as well, the biggest issue stemming from the budget is the game length because it was also too short to explore things as meaningfully as it needed too. I think some of the base ideas were missteps as well, but it was multiple factors resulting in a subpar product.
>>344913786
And then no one cares about the virus for the rest of the game. It's barely aknowledged.
>>344913863
It was part of the puzzle.
The Zero twist was once again on the cover of the game
>Zero is only a translucent shadow
>The Truth is Invisible
>>344913863
Actually, yeah. Now that I think about it there was a very distinct and messy trail showing where a body was dragged. What up with that?

"He is stuck in time, in the past"
So what happens now after the ending? They just wait out and prepare for the religious cult guy to try to end the world? So Delta was Brother, then? It was only mentioned that one single time.Who was it that was talking at the end of VLR with "???" provided as the name?I could have sworn that I saw Snake was going to be discussed in this game for some reason.

>>344914440

I still like it, people are giving it way too hard of a time. I'm just confused.

that really threw me for a loop when I thought about it
>>344914440
>Kyle being super important is mentioned once

>>344914623
They dedicate an entire ending to Zero=Brother and explain his motives and everything. Isn't that enough?
>>344914625
>people are giving it way too hard of a time
No, I refuse to accept this.
As someone who played 999 and thought it was very well made with a wonderful atmosphere and top-tier execution, leaving only a couple of holes in the story that I could forgive, I fucking refuse.
I played VLR immediately after it and felt that its atmosphere suffered, but that the plot was leading to something and that I could forgive the larger number of holes in the story.
I played Ever17 and saw how Uchikoshi had improved his shit pacing since then but had gotten more and more ambitious with the complexity of the plot and branches.
I played Remember11 and saw how he and Nakazawa put something together that only had a single hole in it, one that was easily forgiven.
I played Never7 and saw where Uchikoshi was coming from, how he had started out with barely any drive to make things past his comfort zone.
Then I played ZTD and saw him completely failing to do anything right. Nothing from the other five I had finished was present. There was no elegance, there were no compelling characters, there wasn't an impact in your choices. There wasn't anything. It was just bad.
I would rather ZTD have never been made if this was how it was going to turn out. I'd rather Uchikoshi had gone and made something entirely different that wasn't a mess.
>>344913964
Choosing to experiment with a completely different style instead of staying with the VN format of the first two games and splitting the game into fragments sure as hell didn't help either
>>344914739

Fragments were an interesting idea but immediately you can see the problem with them and it's that characters don't really get to develop because they're constantly being reset back to zero.
That and of course everything has to be explained over and over again because any fragment could be your first.
>>344915448
>It's a shame that it wasn't the golden ending we all wanted, but it is what it is
All I wanted was a cohesive and somewhat satisfying ending. I knew ahead of time that it was going to be somewhat constrained by budget, but he fucked up from the very moment that he decided some of the major plot points, the worst and most unforgivable of which is the presence of a fucking teleporter out of nowhere.
He even had the opportunity to bring back the idea of human bodies jumping timelines instead of just their consciousnesses, but even that failed to happen.
It's just a mess, and as someone who expected better, I'm honestly the most disappointed I've ever been in the release of something.
