Most of them are retarded so heres a summary:

>Singleplayer or Multiplayer?
Effectively single player given the size of the game area, but players have a bubble around them that serves as a personal lobby through which other players could intersect and see one another. More fleshed out MP could arrive at some point, but there are no promises

>What will I do?
The core gameplay loop appears to be explore, scavenge, trade, upgrade

>How do player actions affect the game?
Player's names of planets and animals will be stored on the game server for all others to encounter. Most physical deformations are not uploaded to the server, but are instead saved locally for the player. Significant changes could possibly be uploaded to the server

>What sorts of missions are there?
Basically none.

>What story is there?
There is no real story, but there is lore

>Will there be DLC?
No, but there may be updates based on how people play.

Entire universe is generated procedurally, so it does not need to be stored, you just need the seed and the mathematical functions to generate it. Same way Minecraft is only a few megabytes, if they had to store a single entire map, it would take several petabytes.

Same thing for every procedural games, you just need the building blocks, you don't store every single possible outcome.

Six gigabytes of procedural generation code could create the most complex and detailed world ever built, with completely custom, unique histories for every lump of sand on every planet.

It's not going to be like that, but I hope you realize how retarded it is to talk about 6GB like it's a small number when we don't know the composition of that filesize. If it's 4GB of actual code, it could be incredible. If it's 10MB of actual code, it's probably shit.

>>
>>344856563

Procedurally generated content is basically never interesting for more than five seconds.
>>
>>344857443
I.E. Souls
>>
>>344857320

>Procedural generation code
kek
Not even Dwarf Fortress could make use of all that, OH BY THE WAY YEAH, DWARF FORTRESS EXISTS.
Thing that Dwarf Fortress doesn't have is 3D models and textures. It just has font syntaxing which just about any operating system has including BIOS.

Also going to go ahead and assume most of that data is just copy-pasted with minor edits to create a large library of parts for the code to just slap together, because as said procedurally generating models usually always looks terrible and non-functional e.g. vertices stretched miles wide or a massive waste of memory/memory leakage.
>>
>>344857417
Easy.
You find some lost gadgets or monoliths or whatever and can slowly learn about a past civilization.
I'm pretty sure part of the game is about learning alien words.

But you aren't playing a character and no plot is happening while you're playing. You're exploring stuff and learning (lore), but you have no goal and nothing's going on (no story).
>>
>>344857361
>the game doesn't place me on a rail and hold my hand the entire time, fucking garbage
>>
>>344857417

Easily? They're different things, you know. "Story" means a sequence of events that leads to some conclusion. "Lore" is background data that may or may not have anything to do with the story.
>>
>>344855554
>other players could intersect and see one another
>see one another
So it really is single player but you can see other people's toons online like the Wii U menu has other people's miis walking around.

>explore, scavenge, trade, upgrade
Who are you gonna trade with when it's a single player game?

>physical deformations are not uploaded to the server, but are instead saved locally for the player.
That means if you go around fucking up a planet it doesn't make the planet fucked up for other people, so the only thing that's actually shared are the names only.

This new information/clarification has only made me even less enthusiastic about the game. Then again I shouldn't have expected more than this when the devs have always just pussyfooted around a lot of these key questions about the game and have only talked about what you can do in vague descriptions.

My god, current gen gamers are the fucking worst.
>>
>>344857573
Implying they are not already here making a buffer of shit falseflag threads to avoid a huge drop.
>>
>>344857502
But even vaguer than Souls, because there's at least a threadbare plot connecting things in those games.

So you just say to the player "Go to the center."
Then have them find all these bits and baubbles and say "Maybe this stuff is related to what you find at the center!"
Then have it not matter at all.

http://www.cd-info.com/archiving/gold-discs/index.html

it refers to the use of a gold disc for the purposes of making a master disc for further production and distribution. generally the gold disc is more robust and lasts longer, and was originally the favored original medium for the master copy of any optical disc media.

"going gold" doesnt just mean its done. it means it has been approved for production, and used to (maybe still does) literally mean a gold layered disc has been created as a master for the subsequent release.

>>
What's the point of doing a mechanic really well when that mechanic isn't enough to carry an entire game? I feel like that's the problem with pretty much every open world exploration survival game or whatever. There's never enough content to justify their existence. I feel the game would be much better if they focused on just one solar system of a handful of planets.
Maybe have a somewhat vague story of starting at one end of the system and needing to get to the other, allowing you to explore the planets in between.
That way, they could have focused on individual planets, making them all unique and interesting in their own ways, while also possibly adding in actual shit for you to do on said planets.

This is a industry standard thing that exists from a long long long time (80's)

What I really hate is devs saying that a demo of a game with all assets, no dummies or placeholders, no consoles not a single glitch or bug can be called pre-alpha. I have more than 10 years experience into software dev and pre alpha isn't even a software yet, it is just annotations, drawings and schematics of a software/game.

You can mine but only designated objects can actually be mined so things like the ground will be unaffected, and if you mine then robots will come out of nowhere and punish you for dare trying to interact with the world you're on.
It's also been confirmed that you don't actually upgrade the ship itself but only its components, meaning that if you don't like how the ship looks or appears and want a diffrerent model ship then you're not getting it.
