I know some guys will scoff at me, but I have no knowledge of anything passed algebra. I don't think math is worth putting THAT much stock into unless it's essential for your career path. I mean, why does the average joe need to know how to do shit with imaginary numbers? I mean, I'm all for challenging students and showing different routes in problem solving, but how practical is that stuff in the average man's average day?

I have about 8 different ideas for games and a very poor understanding of Game Maker's GML despite using the program for over 10 years (I was about 11 in 2004, that's when I first started using GM)

I still do creative things, just never enough of it to make a significant dent or amount of progress. I have been teaching myself traditional animation for the last couple of years and I could always work on drawing humans better. Anyway, best of luck to everyone

Basically the gameplay loops from accomplishing missions => get resources to expand your hideout => unlock more troops/better equipment/new tech/skill specialisations => able to take on more ambitious objectives

unity will get you there in a night if you follow one of their big tutorial projects (pajama shooter one).

You do have to power through and follow along a good 2-3 hours of tutorials though.

Thanks for the encouragement. I got into this last summer for the first time, since I had a bit more free time then, and went ahead and got some basics about C# down. But I think I am improving.

It's a good way to gain experience and ease self into the process.

Possibly also learn inner workings of an existing engine to understand how to start.
