How could anyone know about Drake Sword?
>>
Players probably intended to snipe the dragon to death and the tail was the one part they could target from under the bridge.

I think its supposed to be one of those things you find out while fucking around, cuz you've played, and beaten the game over 10 times.

It's laid up for that from a level design standpoint.

In hindsight i guess its not that crazy of a secret, but i've had this game since i was 5, and have played it to completion probably over 50 times.I hadn't been til i was at least 18 to 100% this.It was all because of this one area.

Also the entire sequence to get into the Painted World sounds like its ripped straight from That Kid's mouth.

>Yeah dude, if you climb up Firelink Shrine you'll find a bird nest
>If you curl up on it long enough the giant crow will pick you up and take you back to the Asylum
>At the Asylum you can fight the asylum demon's older brother and also there are now black knights standing around
>If you kill one of them you'll get an item that lets you enter the painting into a secret level in the Anor Londo building with the white robed guys
>>

>instakills you if you stand on the bridge
>can see his tail from beneath the bridge
>try shooting it

>shoot it more
>get sword
>>
>>344846738
If this was the case, it'd probably need less then 50 arrows or whatever. I think he's supposed to be bypassed by the underbridge route.

Then as an optional thing you can get him to land on the bridge for a nice fight, and they decided to give him the tailcut gimmick they already had for the gargoyles.
>>

honestly that's how i'd say half of all RPGs are. some uber item hidden in the game that requires you doing a buncha shit and there's no indication that it exists or how to get it.

strategy guide items to get you to buy shit.

Wasn't that just clearing the star world though? I know some of the entrances were obscure but all you needed to do was find one to start it and most people stumbled upon at least one.

>>344848941

It's just so fucking random though, nobody would ever think to do that. It's almost Zodiac Spear bad.
>>
>>344849714
I still don't know how to get to the special world. All I know is none of my friends found it. The Star World was secret as is. It's important to remember I'm playing this game through the lens of the 90s. No internet. Gaming magazines are expensive for a kid. And they're magazines. If that issue doesn't talk about the game you're playing AND the secrets in the game then you're shit outta luck.

Secrets in games before the internet were a lot simpler but also a lot harder to find. No one could just google it. Google didn't even exist yet.

>>
>>344849907

What I'm saying is once you got into the star world from any of the various entrances that was it. You just had to beat it to get the special world...it wasn't hidden, just damn hard at the time (which I would imagine is why people didn't realize it existed).
>>
>>344846490
If you use a bow and arrow against the drake under the bridge i recommend that you use the left hand side furthest away from the drake against the wall. You'll be able to hit his head then wing then tail in 1 of his landing animations.

>Access Star World 5. Then, about halfway, are four blocks. The second block from the right contains a beanstalk. Make sure you have the yellow, green, red and blue switches on before investigating the top. There is a key at the end of the path.

So find the secret star world on your own. Then activate all the switches in the game. Go back and beat all the star world levels. And THEN hidden in one of those levels is the entrance to the extra secret special world.

>>
>>344848220
I honestly 100% that game when I was 13. That point was hard to find but it wasn't a secret as long as you listened.
>>
Oh yeah since I brought up Super Mario World.

This isn't obscure but it was definitely a secret, even though it's common knowledge now. There was nothing in the game that told you it was possible.

Stealing in Links Awakening. I probably would have forgotten being taught how to do it if it hadn't been for the detail of who was teaching me. I realized many, many years later that the black kid that lived next door taught me how to steal in a video game.

You were supposed to cut off the tail by engaging the drake in normal combat, but since it's hanging off in just the right spot, you can simply use arrows to gradually build up to the correct amount of damage needed for it to fall off.

The Drake Sword is definitely a secret, but using arrows is a cheese tactic in order to get it.

I never played BioShock because I not a dweeb but I am guessing you ring the bells the number indicated on the card? Am I right? Or is it actually a hard puzzle.

Mainstream games always have such childish puzzles, like fallout 4 having the door entry code to the railroad being railroad.
>>
>>344850336
is this dishonored?
>>
In terranigma one of the first enemies named cadet will try to look at you and paralize you, or you can paralize him.

Randomly he will do this:
>Cadet throws a sexy look.
You always get paralized when this happens.

Its really rare, but happens, its faster to read it in the game code that try over and over to check if its true because this has a really low chance of happening.
And if it every happens people dont notice it because they want to move fast and skip the text.
>>
>>344846490
You were supposed to get it by fighting the drake and cutting off it's tail normally. I doubt the developers really intended the player to shoot 100 arrows at the tail.
>>
I don't have a webm saved but I think those gun reload animations in Battlefield Hardline count. I think they only have like a 1:1000 chance of happening and I hadn't heard it mentioned ever until someone datamined the game and found them.
>>
>>344850730

The key is pretty much within plain sight while beating the level, and if you got to Star World 5 then chances are pretty high (or is it guaranteed?) that you ran into a key + keyhole somewhere else and should know its importance.
>>
>>344852516
Its garunteed that you'll use a key hole by the time you get to later star world levels
>>
>>344852151
>Am I right?
Yes.
And this "riddle" appears in the first 5 minutes of the game. It has no purpose, it is just fucking stupid, that is why so many people make jokes about it.
>>
>>344848486

If the dragon wasn't nearly guaranteed to plunder your anus at that level then probably more people would've found the sword by actually fighting it.

What about this nigger shit

The solution is straight up told to you juts like in Infinite if you know to rotate that stupid claw thing. But I'm pretty sure the game doesn't tell you you can rotate objects in your inventory, and I know there's never another instance in game where you gotta do that.
>>
>>344846490
We first dayers figured it out the first day.

In Demon's souls there's a dragon you can only kill by using hundreds of arrows. People tried the same thing with this drake.

You guys need to realize Demon's Souls came out 2 year prior to this game
>>
Dark Souls 2 had some cool secrets, like how you could break the rubble on the santiers spear, and lead the pig to the truffles
>>
I think that area had some of its design dropped.

I imagine you were supposed to snipe the dragon from up where the black knight was using the dragonslayer longbow or something like that. But then they never got around to implementing it.
>>
>>344852865
>The solution is straight up told to you
No it's not. As you said yourself, you have to know to rotate that stupid claw thing. There is a tooltip that tells you how to rotate items, and there's many claws in the game each one with it's own door.

In Infinite though, the game literally tells you "wait a minute, that card".

Skyrim is still a piece of shit though

There's lots of shit in WoW that Blizzard leaves behind in the game that's pretty interesting and obscure to find.

This one I find the most surreal though. There was an Outland testing area hidden in Deadmines.
>>
>>344846490
Probably someone said:
-There's some other dragons in the game and you can cut the tail to get some weaps, let's prove this....

or

-Let's fight this dragon in the bridge.....Oh, I cut his tail and it drops a weap. Wait a moment, if I shoot arrows at the start of the game maybe I can get this at the beginning.

It's not that difficult to figure out somehitng like this, but yeah, not at the start of the game unless you knew it before searching for guides, youtube videos or something.

Its not a nice fight by any means but its cheesable. Just wait for the little shit to land and time your strike with his landing, then run back to the stairs, repeat until defeat. Don't even try to have a fair fight because he clearly doesn't want to either with all those bullshit fire breaths.

Honestly only way I found that worked in NG+. Probably works for NG too if you wanna do the sunlight covenant early.

>>344854364

Well the thing is the bridge dragon is (normally) the first thing you come across that can have its tail cut off, and unless you cut the gargoyle tail off and then go back and try it on the dragon then the Drake Sword will probably be shit by the time you come back for it if you chop off a tail from something else.
>>
Greirat was slightly annoying in DS3.

Especially if you missed Patches all together. Who the fuck opens the main doors which aren't even the best shortcut back at that point then reloads the entire area and goes back up to where the door was?

And from when you send Greirat off on his second expedition why would you think of telling Patches apart from that one vague throwaway line about owing him one.

What's worse is the fact that Siegward can save him but you'd never know that because there's no indication that it'd happen.
