Damn, this game came out really fucking fast. The speculation was fun as hell.
Doesn't the transporter only create a single copy of the person inside? E.G. Diana and Sigma use the transporter and create a new copy of themselves on a single timeline.
So shouldn't there only be a single Delta and Phi? They would only exist on the one timeline they were transported to right? Well I guess there would be two Phi's, but still.

Then why do Phi and Delta exist in other timelines? Shouldn't they only be present in any timeline where Sigma and Diana are trapped in the shelter? How could they exist in say, the true ending, if Sigma and Diana never gave birth to those two in the true ending timeline? A copy would only get made in timelines where Sigma and Diana were trapped together right? I spent some thinking about Brother and the Fanatic.
What we know:
Brother started a terrorist cult to "purify" humanity. Tried with Radical-6 and failed, but 6 billion people died in a a series of massive nuclear blasts.
Fanatic for some reason does some terror attack that starts a chain reaction that leads to 8 billion people dying in a series of massive nuclear blasts.
Theory:
Brother is the Fanatic. He tried to get his revenge for LeftWho?with Radical 6 but failed and trapped himself in a time loop where he could never succeed, but neither could anyone else. So he changes the game and never releases Radical-6, instead getting the cast to chase after his "Fanatic Bio R"Fabricationwhile he's free to continue down his purify humanity plan without Crash Keys and SOIS and unnamed detective agencies getting in his way, best of all for him since humanity is entirely dead there's no way for a VLR set-up where they go back in time to stop him and most SHIFTERS and Morphogenetic Field users can't see into that future because they suddenly die in it.

Also, for everyone wondering, Ever17's ending is my favorite ending in video games and definitely beats every ZE game, so you should play it.
I recommend a walkthrough to get through the boring main routes quickly, the final one is the best fucking route.

Ever17 was a 2002 Jap PC game and had 2002 Jap PC audio quality, and had all sorts of random clicks, pops, and other noises from poor recording equipment and just being very low quality to begin with.
i just turned the voices off because the VA wasn't stellar and installed a music patch to fix the audio and it worked fine for me, I'm sort of curious about the voice patch so I'm downloading it now but likely won't bother uploading it again.Seriously the new voices are 50% the size of the base game

Actually, I don't think there are infinite timelines, even if the game kinda alludes to it. Since Carlos, who had no experience with the machine, can easily select the timeline that he wants to go to, there has to be some sort of finite amount of them to select from. Otherwise how did he select the approximate timeline which he wanted to go to?
Plus, if this is true, then it eliminates a lot of plotholes like "Why didn't they just jump to a timeline where everything is nice?"

The interface looked like a flowchart, so just select a root that leads to your branch. Doesn't have to show all timelines, just a zoomed in section.

This. There was never a moment in ZTD where I felt genuinly on edge/ unnerved like I did with VLR. Seeing Luna right before the elevator door closed is to this day one of the freakiest things in video games to me. Maybe it's because ZTD had a huge problem with building atmosphere with sound. As the food started to reach the end of the belt closer to Sigma, the mechanical arms started moving again. The claw of one moved out of view, and returned moments later holding one of the burgers. It brought the food towards Sigma’s mouth. Zero must want him to eat it, which meant that eating it would be a bad idea. Even though his stomach rumbled again in protest at being so close to food without eating and saliva was starting to pool in his mouth, he clenched his jaw shut. He couldn’t turn his head away with the collar restraining him, though, and the metal arm didn’t stop- forcing the burger into his mouth despite Sigma’s best intentions. He had to chew and swallow or else risk choking on it, though he felt a kind of relief as he did. The taste of the greasy burger on his tongue had only made his hunger stronger, and swallowing it down took some of the edge off his appetite.
When the next arm brought a doughnut to his lips, Sigma didn’t bother fighting it this time. If the food was drugged or poisoned, he had already swallowed it, and if he tried to resist he’d just end up forcefully fed again. So instead he relented, opening his mouth to bite into the pastry and chew at a more comfortable pace. It was more sugary than he would have liked, but it was still nice to be eating something. He ate the next offered doughnut, and the next, and with how fast he was being fed, he didn’t realise how full he was start to get until the mechanical arms had finished feeding him the doughnuts and had started on fried chicken strips. It was more food than he usually ate for a meal, and the junk food was sitting heavily in his stomach.
“Okay, stop, that’s enough- mmph-!” The machines didn’t seem to respond to the command at all, shoving the chicken against his mouth and smearing grease and crumbs over his lips. Sigma had no choice to keep eating.

Because they need to act independently of each other to get the votes and the timeline splits. Many of their decisions rely on not knowing the context of the other team actions. It also allows Mira to be a piranha to activate their esper abilities. It also is required to get the VLR ending which is a must, as well as the D-2 ending.
As far as the Q twist goes, it has to be there so the player doesn't figure out the game within ten minutes. Otherwise they'd realise who Zero is and any suspense would be sucked out of the game. I pirated it day 1 and I had the same problem. Just go into options and move the BGM slider around then change it back to normal. Fixed.

Delta was probably as stubborn as Phi about doing it his way, because Complex, but Phi trusted Delta to do the right thing with the experiment in his own way.

You have to download the openAL dll and put it in the game folder to fix that... but that breaks 2 of the puzzles. Once you beat the puzzles the screen turns white and freezes so you have to save before you complete the puzzle and remove the dll. The 2 puzzles that do that are the transporter room and the room where Junpei's head is in the freezer.

The game explains that perfectly. If he did that then he would have never been born in which case he would not have been able to tell them that. If the history where they lost the coin flip never happened he never would have been born.
