i remember playing a demo of this game on the PS1 and absolutely LOVED it, but I don't think it ever got an NA release.

It did, but it was super fucking rare.
I remember the game store my gf worked at got a copy in a few years ago, they were selling it for like $200.
I only ever played the OPM demo, and loved it.
