It works since he is an ambusher, though I feel like, if anything, he should only get a (slightly larger) speed buff after a successful backstab.

Though that feels more like a weapon function, really. (the sort I'd assign to the conniver's kunai)

Valve just doesn't want to put in the effort to rebalance both Heavy and Pyro and they'd rather do Heavy but are willing to humor Pyro players and make up a fake contest.

What you've mentioned is part of why I feel like pyro needs the rebalance more. At the moment, everything that makes Pyro special is the ability to airblast and whatever they had wanted pyro to be has been kind of lost in the shuffle of new weapons and updates, so I think Valve needs to take a long hard look at pyro and ask "okay, what does pyro do?"

Just about all classes can murder eachother in seconds in the right circumstances. They're not even terrible specific circumstances besides just catching someone with their pants down which is Spy's MO.

The contest is over who gets it first. And since this is Valve, the difference in time could be over a year between the updates.

I still lean toward pyro then because Heavy doesn't feel like he's in a bad spot. Maybe I just haven't played him too much enough but it honestly feels like when you play a heavy, you know what you need to do, you have multiple means of accomplishing this, and what will help you.

For a pyro just feels he's contributing less to a team than a sniper unless he's just airblasting.

Most of the bugs with Pyro punish players who have good reaction times and good ping, but don't affect bad players that much.

Maybe replace the particles with hitscan, or with a jiggleboned cone object.

More range will help players who can aim better, a narrower cone will make it harder to aim.

Pretty much every class can spycheck, despite it being Pyro's job. This change to Spy will make everyone else a little worse at killing invisible Spies, and make Pyros more effective at it.

The spy buff was one of the few justified balance changes in the update.

Remember that Valve will now balance TF2 around 6v6. Spy was severely underused compared to sniper.

I really would disagree with that. This change is an inderect buff to scout, making him even more OP. The quick-fix speed buff should've been removed altogether rather than added to all mediguns.

I didn't mean literally 12 people all hurt standing in front of you but it would be significantly easier when playing as the only medic in a 12 person pub team, which is almost always the case. If you spread around crit heals properly that healing advantage quadruples and can make your life a lot easier. If I take stock medigun what almost always ends up happening is I'll have 6 people around me at all times screaming for heals and each person I top up walks into choke alone and gets annihilated over and over.

Big difference here is that my team will respawn to a hail of gunfire and rockets over and over again because I'm holding the door open for the enemy team, who can't see me doing it.
