What's the best monitor for gaming these days that isn't some $3000 30" l33t-branded thing?

Apple Thunderbolt Display.

cringeworthy picture
but don't discount a monitor just because some marketing guy tossed a "gaming" sticker on it

I used an Asus VE278Q.

27" with a 2ms response time, which ain't too bad considering I paid only around $150 for it.

The built in speakers suck ass though and with Asus you always gotta be sure the product you got didn't come from one of the factories that skimps on quality.

Why would you do this. the bars between screens would be infinitely more annoying than whatever you get from the extra pixels.
>>
>>344729816

I never got why people did this

why would you be ok with those black horizontal outlines ruining the image
>>

I chose that pic because, as is usually the case on this place, you have to bait/post shit in order to get noticed.

I was looking at the Benq RL2455HM originally, but a couple of tests showed it had 8ms of input lag. Saw the Benq XL2411Z and Asus VG248QE were both sub 1ms or 2ms input lag and were 144Hz.
>>344730551
I've heard plenty of horror stories about the build quality of Asus's, yeah, stopped me getting one ages ago.
>>
>>344729816
too many variables to consider. Do you want a multi-monitor setup? or do you want a single monitor. Does that single monitor run at 1080 or 2k or even 4k? Or is it an ultra-wide, an alternative to multi monitor?
>>
>>344730851
there's a lot of good Acer options on the market now

OP here. I was sentenced to prison about 8 years ago and I just got out, so I'm pretty used to the vertical bars by now. I don't even notice it most of the time desu

It's only a few factories that do it apparently, and Asus is trying to crack down on them.

I was wary about buying one too but once I realized you could just send it back to wherever you got it and get it replaced for free if it turned out it came from said factories, I didn't really care too much about buying one.

If anything, those factories allow them to sell the good product for less which I'm all for.

Dell s2716dg

>GSync
>27in
>1440p

Literally best m,monitor I have ever owned. I plan to pick up a second one later this month and a 3rd after I get a 1080ti.

I've never heard of this before, what kind of issues can these monitors have if it comes from a bad factory?

i nearly vomit. get a 3440x1440 monitor

Bad displays, dead pixels, vertical lines etc. Honestly I would go with the Dell. AZS I suggested here: >>344731303
I spent a lot of time doing research on monitors and scouring forums and this was my final pick. Dell quality with what ever gaming gimmicks you could want.

>giant black lines in the middle of your screen
I'll never understand this
>>
>>344731347
They generally have a worse actually display. Colors will appear washed out or the wrong shade. The overall quality of the monitor itself will be lacking too.

Check the second review here for a better explanation:

Basically, just make sure your monitor's box has a clear white handle rather than a solid black one.

All those monitors and most likely a three way sli or crossfire to just load up 200 futa mods.

Nah, there all ~10-12ms of input lag. Response time has nothing to do with input lag.

They're all 1ms GTG, yeah but the sub-1ms claim comes from here/pic: https://turbofuture.com/computers/Top-Gaming-Monitor

I got my Benq's confused, the one there is much more expensive.
>>344730938
Single monitor, at least 1080p and lowest input lag as possible and preferably sub $1000

Not really the topic, but what's a good 21:9 monitor with above 60hz refresh rate?
>>
>>344729816
Phillips 241P6Q bought late last year, good AH-IPS 24" 1920x1080 panel, none of this 16:10 meme aspects or non IPS cheapo shit

anything higher than 1920x1080 is a rip off and im happy to wait for OLED for glorious variable nits, dolby has a proprietary HDR but whatever im not from install /g/entoo

Really don't trust those numbers, or subjective quotes in some cases. You're really looking at ~10ms input lag on modern LCD/IPS monitors regardless.

I've been spoiled rotten by ips monitors. I do CAD for a living and every monitor at my work is a Dell U3014. When I come home to my TN panel the colors look so awful. Before I ever used ips I was happy with TN but now I just can't look at them anymore.

>>344733509
Doesn't DisplayLa's tests involve referencing it with a 8ms reference point or something? Heard that all their numbers should be divided by 8.
