Anyone have a good video showing off the dub? I played the original in nip ages ago when the PSP translation dropped, and I just played that when I replayed it a few days ago.
I also used the nip voices in the second one because I decided to just keep with the tradition of having no idea what the fuck people were saying during the trials. Most dubs of Jap games are pretty bad, and it's not just because the VAs are trash. God, the ENG female VAs for almost everything are so shit. I want to fucking shoot myself every time I hear Christina fucking Vee.
But it's not just the VAs. The dialogue is stilted and unnatural as hell, even in JAP, and the translations can't put enough lipstick on that pig, and often even add problems. Translations don't read too badly, or maybe I've just gotten used to it, but hearing them makes me realize how stilted and un-natural they sound. Nobody fucking talks like that, probably not even in Japanese.
I watch the JAP dub because I can't understand it, and can't hear how awkward the lines sound. I'm not proud of it, but it's the only way I can enjoy this stuff.

but it's not good acting, it's just not. There are some parts that are alright and some good people, but in the end a lot of people feel like they're reading it's dull off of the script. Not trying to improvise, act into the roll.
Part of it could be the characters fit more of japanese trops so there it's easy for the japanese voice actors to fit into that roll however they can suffer (and do in dr) from acting the same character with the same voice.

Every line is spoken isolated from the next. There is no flow between different sentences being spoken in sequence, and there is zero chemistry or playing off other characters. Not only is the delivery of lines completely sterile, but even each sentence is spoken incredibly slowly with long gaps as if they're reading it out for a fucking kindergarten class. Zero effort was made to make it sound as if there were characters that actually exist and speak these lines. It's literally a bunch of Z-grade voice actors soullessly reading lines off of a page one by one to collect a paycheck.
It is OBJECTIVELY awful, and saying 'nu-uh' doesn't change that.
I thought Nisa's localization was alright but I hated the dumb nicknames. There's no way Kiyotaka would shorten his family name and it's way too coincidental that 1/4 of the cast would want nicknames for themselves. I'm convinced the voice actors couldn't get the names pronounced right.

It'll be explained next episode, but it's two hours until everyone is put to sleep again and the next person is killed by the traitor. Then it will repeat. They have to find and kill the traitor before there isn't anyone left. It's like Mafia or Werewolf.
There's an additional rule that will probably also show up next episode: every player has a unique restriction called a "NG Code" (no good code) that if they violate they immediately die. They'll probably be unique and tailored to each individual person to make the game more interesting.

It's not about the spacing, it's about the intonation when finishing lines. If you read out each line individually, you will intonate it differently to if you are reading out multiple lines at once as part of a larger exchange. It makes the dialogue sound incredibly stinted and unnatural

Perhaps he was already impersonating Byakuya before the mind-wipe? I mean, his family was a pretty big name before the whole End-Of-The-World thing, and he was the heir to it. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody decided to get the Ultimate Imposter to act as Byakuya for some reason.
