So Delta being in the wheelchair and conveniently not acknowledged until he was pointed out by Sean those two times really confused me.

Does that mean he was actually there the whole time and just wasn't acknowledged by Q team because he was basically a vegetable and just happened to be conveniently out of frame or what? And he was the "Q" Zero referred to this whole time and not Sean?

The poses in this game are pretty, uh, interesting...
>>
>>344687385
Pretend this game never happened anon. 999 and VLR are amazing in a vaccuum.

Which reminds me of Remember11. People said Remember11's ending sucks and it brings the game down a lot. But I think the game is awesome and the twists are really good. The fact that the game never truly got finished is a shame, but even without it the plot is still interesting. Leaving it open ended was fine with me. So just enjoy VLR like that; an open ended game without a true ending.
>>
I'd like to think that the reason Delta is offscreen the whole time is that you are Delta the whole time before the reveal, using the glasses to see through cameras. There is no reason to have yourself in focus, right?
It was still out of the blue when I first played it, though.

Same here, brother. Maybe I'm stupid for expecting so many thing to wrapped up perfectly into a bow in one game, but I just felt let down overall when it didn't meet my expectations.
Which were made very high due to VLR setting the stage for something brilliant.
>>
>>344688428
I had mixed feelings about it but I'm glad the clues were numerous enough for them to pile up and subtle enough that I didn't dwell on them long enough to connect the dots. I got Perceptive End early and it was a huge mind fuck.
>>
>>344687918
>So just enjoy VLR like that; an open ended game without a true ending.
It's funny you say that, because personally I was (and still technically am) bummed by VLR. Not only did I find its story escalation unnecessarily high for a sequel (for a story I'd argue that didn't necessarily need continuation), it also left me with an ending that did not feel satisfying in the least.

As such I bought ZTD just to see if it would make VLR's existence worth it for me, but as it turns out it didn't.
>>
>>344687918
R11 is fantastic. I'll never understand why people dislike it, but praise games kite DR, S;G, and seacats.
>>
>>344688428

Phi was sent back to 1900s via the transporter. German scientists tried the transporter, sending the 1900s version to 2008. The 1900s version lived long enough to adopt and raise the 2008 version.
>>
>>344689746
phi said she was raised by an old researcher couple who found her in the transporter and the "other phi" file said original phi lived into her 100s as a researcher in america working with the transporter so it's only implied.

I genuinely thought Sean was Delta somehow, and the robot thing was only in another timeline so I held off going through the door since it seemed like it would obviously get me the last ending for the stand off. I was expecting him to bypass the "cannot commit suicide" thing and somehow turn the bow on himself and some exposition with one of the codes for the boxes. I did not fucking expect what actually happened. Probably the most memorable experience in the game for me.

ZTD is literally the Remember11 of the ZE series.

VLR was disappointing by itself, more so than ZTD, it's just such a huge leap in themes from 999.

>>344688960
S;G is pretty great and self contained, it has a satisfying ending and likable characters. Seacats is praised a lot but the general consensus is that R07 fucked up the last arcs because "muh depression".

I'll never understand DR's popularity.

I wish the game hadn't brought back characters from past games, I liked the new characters more in this one but it never really went anywhere with them. The focus was spread too thin, and the game was shorter to boot, it almost felt like it ended before it really began.

Honestly, I feel the same way, I never thought ZE had very good writing to begin with so while ZTD was dumb, it was dumb in an entertaining way, while 999 only had its atmosphere, sprites, and being somewhat grounded going for it since I never cared about a single character by the end and it wasn't even the fun kind of dumb.
>>
How the fuck does Delta expect them to find the one dude just because they're motivated now that he told them about it. How did any of the shit in the shelter help that goal?

Probably that they can now shift and keep their memories, which is something only Sigma and Phi could do before.

>Why did Uchi resort to a dumb paradox of Delta ensuring his own creation?
This is literally the same paradox present in 999 and VLR, so if you thought that was dumb, then the whole series is dumb.

> This is my personal opinion, but I think other countries overreact to sexuality. Japanese men are often labeled as perverts and hentai (myself included), but the rate of sexual crimes in Japan is amongst the lowest in the world. I understand that this is partially because many crimes go unreported, but even so the number is very low. According to a report by Nation Master, the rate of sexual crimes is 1 in 100,000 people, ranked 105th out of 119 countries.

>There are various factors for the low rate, but some theories owe it to Japan’s acceptance of sexual media. If you can satisfy your needs via fantasy, you don’t need to act them out the real world. Of course I’m not saying you can get away with anything so long as it’s fiction. But if something has an evident, ideological reason, (think of Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut), this freedom of expression should be protected.

Not trying to pull a "gotcha" on the game, just trying to understand how Akane works:

In the prologue, she tells Sigma she only gets bits and pieces of info from her future self, right? But Uchikoshi says she's looked down a zillion different timelines and can SHIFT, and she basically livestreamed the whole Nonary Game to Junpei in 999 when she was just a kid. So why is her connection with her future self so limited?

>>344699410
She went to Butthole, Pennsylvania. She told me to tell you to find a thousand pounds of cocaine and meet her there.

Got some questions here cause im shit at following multiple timelines

1. Once the shifters figured out they could shift why didn't they just shift to before the experiment began so that they could warn people or take literally any preventative measures instead of perpetually shifting to points in time after the decision game started?

2. Why is everyone ok with mira being a serial killer in the end of the game? They do know, right? Nobody says anything or even tells eric. (true ending)

3. Why does delta think he has changed anything? The whole game is about infinite realities, so there was already an infinite amount of realities where the terrorist did not cause ww3. Sure he created another set of infinite realities, but double infinity is still infinity.

4. How is delta alive at 124 years old? Why are his eyes purple?

5. Why did delta kill gab? What was the point of that?

6. Why did Mira pretend to fall unconscious each time the drug was injected? She was in on the ruse right? There wouldn't be a point in tricking any of them because they wouldn't remember her not falling unconscious anyway.

7. How did sean shift at the end? He is just a computer. How can computers shift?

8. How did carlos use the bracelet as an anesthetic for his arm wound? If it was injected wouldnt he fall asleep and forget like normal? Why was it just only affecting his arm at that point?

I have more that i probably forgot

Disagree that R07 fucked up the last arcs. People just are obsessed with getting a conclusion and denying all magic outright, but R07 didn't want that, he wanted Magic to be at equilibrium with Trick. So he only gave a symbolic solution with EP07, instead of a factual one.

And he constantly said that he included everything he wanted on EP08 and was really satisfied with how it turned out. Its just that what he wanted wasn't what most people expected.
>>
>>344699689
>6. Why did Mira pretend to fall unconscious each time the drug was injected? She was in on the ruse right? There wouldn't be a point in tricking any of them because they wouldn't remember her not falling unconscious anyway.
She didn't. She DID fall asleep. But the memory loss drug wasn't injected.

>7. How did sean shift at the end? He is just a computer. How can computers shift?
They explained in the ending where Sean enters the password into the Quantum Computer while Eric and Mira were present. It's because of Quantum states or something.

Yeah, I thought we were getting called out there. I get that Delta has a motive to force them to make all possible choices, but Uchikoshi set himself up for fourth-wall breaking in VLR and just never used it.

I won't accept "a small budget" as an excuse eithe. All he would have to do is spend a little less time writing mind hack dialogue and thrown in a couple lines aimed at the player.

I would still say VLR, even though it lacked gore, had a better atmosphere and aesthetic than ZTD. It stayed consistent with its Si-Fi theme throughout with its environments, music, and general art direction. ZTD is all over the fucking place; the environments have no consistency, the graphics are blocky and cell-shaded, and the majority of the soundtrack are reused themes.

Honestly, the current game makes itself trivially pointless.

>>344699689
1. Everyone does very stupid things that are far from the most obvious or best way to achieve their goals.

2. Eric knows, if you read the notes after finishing the game he has her surrender to the police, and they marry in prison.

3. I was wondering if this game had a weird derivative of the multiverse where the other universes are forks originating from man-made choices? 'cause otherwise, nobody's plans to do anything than to set their CURRENT self up with xy make any sense.

If everything that is physically possible, you can't stop radical-6 or can't save mankind. Infinite universes die to it. Infinite universes don't have it. Infinite universes survive the outbreak with one casualty, or none. Literally nothing you could do would matter, you could only travel to where you wanted to be.

7. He haz quantums, he can shift (/ exists everywhere simultaneously - I think the game confused me on the respective text actually)

8. Well, the injections for memory loss and sleep are separate. How he knew which is which is beyond me though.

Question for all the people that hated the Delta reveal? How would you do it better? Because I admit that it is deliberately manipulating the player, but I struggle to come up with a better way to do it. We knew that Brother was Zero before playing the game, and we knew he was old as fuck. So the moment we saw Delta, the jig would be up. The only other way I can think of doing it would be to not have Zero as a participant at all, but then the reveal of him being somebody we didn't see would feel like even more of an asspull. I would be a literally who? moment. Anybody got any ideas on how they would've made it work better?

I think This actually has more potential, too?

Ultimately, why couldn't he have the "decency" to free his mom and dad and younger self and sister in some timelines where his parents did the prequisite teleportation, but were still stuck and going to starve in the bunker?

Him then talking to his parents and various things happening would probably even have been a better plot mover and emotional moment thing than Sean the otherwise basically pointless robot talking to Zero in the quantum computer room.

Yeah. I wouldn't have minded having him be monitoring them and having the reveal be Q pointing at an eyeball camera that he's been using to watch implanted in all of them. But that would've been harder to seed, and I don't hate what we got. Except for the fact that it wasn't entirely necessary for him to be in the game (beside his death causing C-Team to jump and get the VLR timeline complete) I thought it worked pretty well, and making the player be delta is a clever twist, and it keeps the tradition of the character playing as a single participant in the game, only this time it is the true villian

I don't think it's genuine, full-on hatred.

The game has some real flaws all throughout, they clearly didn't have a lot of money and tried to design the game like they did, and despite the fact that it's the finale of a niche series a lot of the presentation makes it clear that it was written in such a way that it would be somewhat accessible to new players (to the detriment of people who played 999/VLR). Among other niggling issues here and there.

Overall, though, it was a still a fun ride, just not what it could've been.

i guess you can use schrödingers cat as explanation (box gets closed when first nonary game started and opened again when the 9 hours of the second nonary game pass) that would be the reason for seven to remember the death of akane in stead of her succeeding in the puzzle, which then explains his headache when you get to the ending where you would help her because the past ultimately changes to the one where akane lived
also her feverish moments are explained with this
she just feels that the wrong path is going on and will vanish when the 9 ours pass and she wasn't saved yet
>>
>>344709597
Wait, you then think she wouldn't be a murderer if she killed and burned Phi?

It's not actually *murder* if you expect all choices to lead to a number of people dieing (starting at 1) anyhow.

Wouldn't even be murder if she had heard that Phi can shift, but just didn't believe it or didn't believe it was reliable.

Apparently the violence was toned down in VLR to accommodate for Japanese taste, but what they really should've done was replace Alice with a half-naked 8 year old who had a romantic attraction to Sigma, but eventually ran off with Tenmyouji, who is now 300 pounds heavier and never not sweating.

That would've moved units in Japan.

>>344710403
I'm sure the reason it's so much worse has probably little to do with all the blood in the game. There just isn't any atmosphere because the other characters are never out to get each other and the first half of the game just feels like characters die at random. There is no "Struggle to stay alive" because it feels like the characters are just constantly thrown unwinnable scenarios.

God damn the voting at the beginning is so utterly meaningless. You control the votes and then it doesn't even matter because you go off into the other timelines anyway and you don't even really get to see the characters come face to face and say "What the fuck was with that vote" like you do in VLR. It's just so "nothing."

Fuck.

I thought Akane can watch possible futures in all the timelines where she or resonant partners exist somehow, but just thought -correctly or falsely- that she needed to set up the thing she will watch to get the solution. She could probably be wrong about this because individual "instances" of her don't know everything she knows, she can just "go watch" things through that field.

He didn't remember meeting Akane during the Decision Game in that ending due to what was most likely a huge dose of the memory erasing drugs. So as far as Tenmyouji knew, he just literally never saw Akane again until the AB project.

If he did, he most likely would've killed himself out of frustration. I know I would've.

http://www.4gamer.net/games/336/G033691/20160609079/
Uchikoshi's 42 years old. When he's in his 30s he's always reflecting on what he had done but recently he's tired of doing such thing and decided that he wants to express his feelings through ZTD, which is what Zero said in prologue: "Life is unfair."
In most ZTD interviews Uchikoshi repeated that the games he made didn't sell good. And he's disconsolate about people kept complaining about what he had done without thinking about how much effort did he put into his works. I think if ZTD project got green-lit right after the release of VLR it might be a different game.

The "bad" guy apparently isn't destroying the world though?

He actually seems far more effective at saving it with his limited powers than Akane and others that superficially seem like they should be able to intervene more directly, but really mostly just fuck things up very much.

The guy just fudges probabilities into the right direction, within what his limited powers can do.

He saw he was limited in his ability to perceive and act -due to limitations on the numbers of SHIFTers, the many SHIFTers that apparently didn't care to save the world, and the many histories where he himself wasn't born or otherwise unable to act,

And then he simply took the steps available to him to raise all of these numbers. From what we can tell, it's working.

Yeah. My biggest disappointment, even more than the Delta twist was the lack of payoff in the dilemmas. 90% of them had one right choice and a game over. VLR did it better because despite it being the one choice repeated you had to deal with the effects of your decision. In this it was a matter of choosing the right choice because the timeline was fractured enough because of the teams. As a result, adding actual decisions that affected shit would've confused it more

I think it's time we admit that the fragments system separating the teams was a mistake

I saw it coming. I saw the shit that would be coming exactly when they told "cinematic experience" and from the first screens of the game months ago
That and the fact that there are no diversities in the age of the characters, it's young and handsome people syndrome again... Delta twist could have been so much better if there were people like Ace or Tenmyoldy among the characters
That and the fact we did'nt had the time to discover them properly

All of this mess is worse than nanomachines
>>
>>344707653
Probably didn't have the actual escape room designed yet, and they had to change it to accommodate the whole gun keyhole thing.

On the night Delta parted ways with the participants of the Decision Game, Diana talks to Sigma about the timeline where she was alone with Delta in the Quantum Computer room.

Delta told her that he envied those who could readily discard other versions of themselves to pursue an ideal. All they can do is run, while he is left behind to clean up their messes. Despite everything, he will not apologize for his methods, for that would disgrace the lives he has taken in the timelines he has exploited. If Diana, Sigma, and Phi still want to consider him part of their family, part of the Klim family, they will know how to find him after the terrorist is caught.

I thought 999 was OK, but once I got to the first point where I changed an answer in VLR and Sigma remembered the outcome from a different timeline, I knew I was playing a 10/10 game.

Delta's plans fail in countless timelines, and he expects that to happen.

But the actual plan of each individual Delta is just to continue to push the potential for success up for other "derivative" timelines.

You know that "delta" (well, the big letter) is the mathematical symbol for a (usually infinitesimally small) difference / macroscopic change, right?

>>
>>344720095
Nobody was suprised about Jumpy. Only autists though Nona was 6. Hell, people even thought she may be Phi until three was revealed. It's just that different styles will always cause slight inconsistencies, and in a series as crazy as this, it's hard to tell what's intentional and what isn't. I preferred the old art as well tho senpai
>>
>>344720772
I didn't know it was Junpei immediately. Not until his name was spoken. He acted nothing like Junpei or Tenmyouji.

Then again, I also went into ZTD completely blind.

>>344720904
Yeah. But people who saw the art knew it was meant to be Jumpy. That's what he was talking about
>>
>>344720670
Seems probably like the snail was actually there, not just a rhetorical device.

Everything else he talks about apparently actually happened.

Why Zero knows about some fucking snail is however unclear. Easy way to expand the series in possible future titles or DLC or whatever, I imagine? Or perhaps just the author looking to be entertained by his fan's theories...

Akane's Mom was jogging when she saw a snail and, not wanting to go near it or whatever decided, hey, I'll take the left path. She ran into loli Mira, who was hiding in a bush, and was gutted for her Heart. So began Mira's killing spree. The police suspected Akane's dad as the killer and he was sentenced as being guilty. On his way somewhere (maybe court, I don't remember) he somehow missed the taxi that was supposed to take him somewhere and so a skilled Surgeon got in instead. He was headed to a hospital to operate on non-robo Sean, but this Taxi ended up getting into an accident and both the driver and Surgeon were killed. Shortly after Sean passed away.

Life is simply unfair, don't you think?

He is somewhat right though. In at least two ways.

I just finished VLR for the first time. I only saw it on YouTube back when it came out and I was left wanting more after ZTD, so I decided to actually play it.

Now, call me crazy maybe, but isn't "?" us, the playerbase? We jumped with Sigma to the future and followed his shenanigans at the site. At this time, Kyle was in "our" body back in the past. At the end of VLR, after Akane finishes talking to ?, their mind goes back to the past and Kyle's returns to the future. And then we witness ZTD and make it possible that Sigma and Phi save the earth.

Does that make sense? Kyle was created for the purpose of switching consciences with us so we can witness both the future and the past. That's why he was vital.
