Overwatch - Did not give a shit about this game before launch, didn't even know what the hell the game was, but after playing the beta I got hooked, mostly because it seems to have filled that TF2 gap left in my heart after I stopped playing years ago.

I liked its combat. There was a lot of control in how you could attack. How you used the analog stick and the b button controlled whether you thrust, did a horrizontal or vertical strike, and so on.The sword skills added more to the game than any other Zelda before it, and little things like arrows dinging off the shield when it hits your back were really cool.
Midna is qt though.

You can take something that exists and refine it to make it better. People don't necessarily need something new and groundbreaking to enjoy something. People don't have to like games for the same reasons you do, and people can praise games for doing things with their mechanics, stories, music, etc. that they like, even if similar things have been done before already.
Why is it so hard for you to understand that people may find games that appeal to their personal tastes, regardless of how fresh and new it is, enjoyable and thus worth praise based on their own desires? I like Mystery Dungeon games. Super Mystery Dungeon has the most refined gameplay mechanics in the series, offering a deeper, harder experience than previous entries. Its nothing new, but it satisfied what I desire and thus I praise it because of that. Is it so hard to see that maybe that anon that thinks Zelda BOTW looks cool is judging it based on his own tastes, not whether or not its doing something new or groundbreaking?

DaS3 is GOTY no matter how you slice it. Its great game and it will fuel my PvP needs for a long time. Its so good I spend 2 weeks writing complex autohotkey script to bring controls into 21century. Fixed accidental kicks, action queue, implemented quickcast. Fucking consoles dragging us down once again. All these should have been part of the PC version.
Only other game I am really hyped for is dishonored 2, since I loved dishonored. But even though I replayed it atleast 6 times and had so much fun, the lack of PvP means it cant beat DaS in GOTY for me.

the cinematic style is godawful and removes many things enjoyable about previous games, it drops several plot points from VLR, some of the twists are straight up bullshit or have no effect on the plot whatsoever, character writing is inconsistent with previous entries in the series, no final puzzle or puzzle room so the last ~2 hours of the game is just sitting and watching poorly animated cutscenes, some puzzles and rooms are really fucking lame
