Your card is still fucking fine. I'm still using the GTX 560ti 1GB from 2011, and have no problems playing any game at 1920x1200, smoothly.
I have, however, started to consider the GTX 1060. Costing mere 250 bucks and being stronger than the GTX 980, it really seems like a great deal, and would be more than plenty for 1080p gaming

Since the 1060 was confirmed gimp underpowered shit, it's fine especially considering the 1070 won't be sold at MSRP probably until Winter.
It's a great 1080p card and decent 1440p card.

Confirmed for the GTX 560ti being an excellent card. You're not going to be maxing out graphics on a new title but for the age of the card it's still a solid bit of hardware.
It's basically a 970 that will age much less poorly and will do great with new technology like dx12.
If you already have a 970/r9 390, it's probably not worth it to upgrade but if you're upgrading from something like a 670 and want to play at 1080p 60fps then it's the best card for that.

Wait for release and benchmarks of aftermarket 1060's. There's always a lot of hype surrounding new generations of cards, going by hype alone is stupid.
Generally speaking the 1060 will probably compete very well with the 480, except in DX12, at which point the 480 may edge out a bit. But again, wait and see, speculation said that the 480 matched the 980ti, speculation said it was worse than a 960. It's always bullshit.

Neither of these statement is true.
FE tax have considerably raised the GPU price for both GTX1070 and GTX1080.
It will most likely be the same with GTX1060.
Also, all the performance so far indicated that it will perform just as good as stock 980 with a small margin depending on title.
