It doesn't matter how long since the series started, the games start incredibly slow and force you to do these terrible gathering quests that literally nobody likes.
But a few hours into the game you can start fighting against actual large monsters which is where the fun is. Go try the weapon tutorial quests and try out the weapons that look cool and their different styles (btw you can see in the menu all of the attacks and combos for each weapon+their style versions so do that).
It's about as easy to get into as 4U was, which was much more easy to get into compared to 3U.
Yeah, pretty much all the NPCs from previous games return in this game so you get all the previous cute girls in addition to the new ones.

They're not primarily designed to be an attack class, even if you can buff them up to that point. From what I understand, most of the best cat builds came from one particular trait that was basically an event cat that buffed shit through the roof, but I can't speak on that for sure as it's merely hearsay.

Was a lot better than my 2nd damage horn, which served no funtion. But went through my list, and near all of them either had damage or stamina. Could have brought the Teo Horn, it's pretty cool, albeit bad songs, but would have been unique ones.

When I played the Generations demo though, something just felt off. Aerial swaxe was satisfying as fuck, but I dunno man. Anyone else kinda feel the same? Not sure what it is.

I'll go experiment with it then, Critical Junction sounds great for the damage but I have a habit of missing it. Sakura Slash doesn't seem to useful for Aerial style that i'm going with due to how easy it is to land the spirit roundhouse with that style.
The last one might be also be rather useful for aerial however, it maxes out the spirit gauge which allows you to spam the spirit combo as much as you want, and the 12% damage buff won't go away either.
Will there be a way to transfer my Japanese save to the US version? I'm not doing all of those annoying village quests again.

Certain styles remove/alter certain attacks/animations and the game doesn't mention it AT ALL in any descriptions ANYWHERE.

There's someone in /vg/ that made a save converter. Be careful though there's some equipments that make the game freeze. I think they were some of DLC equips.
