They constantly balance the game the way they think it should play, and if you find out a better or more fun way of doing things they'll nerf your favorite frame or mission type to the ground.
Still haven't done anything about the fact that the only progression comes from mods. A guy who's played the game for 200 hours without max serration, multishot, heavy impact is exactly as powerful as someone fresh off the boat. Or that they try to push utility mods despite refusing to make any of them worthwhile outside of gimmicky weapons. Like why on earth is the plain status mod a 12.5% bonus to inflict status effects when each of the status+element mods gives you 45%, over 120% extra status chance because you're going to use them together. Others are even worse, like adding 2 extra bullets before you have to reload at the cost of 8 mod points.

Because the art design was cool, the universe had this almost surrealist mystery going for it early on, and I liked how the story actually progressed with time- I guess I'd kind of subconsciously make up my guy's reactions to all the shit going on and I thought it was fun.
It was a combination of the fact that the idea that voiced protagonist=better story makes me livid and it was a really stupid idea, to boot. They have all this stuff about the "original" frames having their own personalities in the lore and there's a SHITLOAD of fan stuff providing characterization for each of the suits, it's just lazy and disappointing.

The grand revelation after literal years of speculation and theoreycrafting, how completely unexpected it was, and the whole experience in general was very well paced, built up a lot and did not disappoint. Boss battle was interesting and hype.

Just because they play it up as a grand reveal doesn't make it cool. It's like how people were hyped about Meet the Pyro since the very first Meet the videos started coming out for TF2 and it's just "haha pyro's crazy and loves rainbows and ponies haha" and the whole thing just feels like a total cop-out.
I didn't like how everything was being played so painfully straight through most of the new story stuff being added and wanted to see some curveballs, potentials to change allegiances, etc- and when it's revealed that you're a kid who sees the Lotus as a mother figure and can't be anything else that was fucking awful
also im-fucking-plying the boss battle was hype, the stalker fight beforehand was the same as anything else in that game and the laser shit in your ship was awful

What I really wanted to see happen were more options to strike out on your own, do things that the Lotus doesn't sanction, give the player a bit more freedom even if it was fake freedom. They gave you a few hints of choice in stuff like the faction warring system and the joinable dudes that are like "the tenno following the lotus are ignoring their true potential" and stuff. The reveal was basically the opposite of that, straight up telling you "this game is about the lotus, she's the big main character. You're following her until the end, and not getting a choice in it." Hated it.
I mean shit, what I thought was cool about warframe's storytelling is that you were just one tenno of many. I didn't mind some of the cinematic storytelling, but I liked that overall it was about the many tenno, not just you.

Primes are by and large hideous and I don't even bother using them. Game's easy as heck with normal gear unless you're going for obscenely long grinds at top level survival and shit, anyway.
You can't work for them in any meaningful sense. I remember Warbros would go on and on about wanting to just straight up defect and work for grineer if they had the opportunity, and the second dream just says "yeah no, you're working for her and you're working for her forever. No plot twists."
I guess a lot of it is that Lotus is just so obnoxious, shady, and honestly pretty creepy in your brief interactions with her that being told that your character adores her and that'll be the end of it was the end for me.

I view primes as the only gear worth using, since if you invest time, effort, and forma into non-primed gear then they release a primed version later you end up with an inferior weapon. I really like nekros but I haven't even built him, waiting for the prime version which is actually coming next, it's gonna be great.
The point is you're not in any way bound to the lotus, in gameplay OR in lore. You're a free agent and can do whatever missions you want for whoever you choose. True a good 80% of the missions in the game are lotus missions but you can still choose not to do them if you want to be pedantic about it.
The only thing shady about space mom was how she seemed completely dedicated to the wellbeing of the tenno and we didn't understand her motive for that before the second dream.
