With what I know of RPGs, generally you can steal from enemies to get high-grade items. Especially in late-game. This is why Thieves are so important.

I wish more games had character models/sprites/whatever change depending on damage. I think it'd make things a lot more intensive if you could see your characters take a beating, fighting a boss with your last character looking like this would probably be really intense.
