The tragedy here is that you don't have depression and kill yourself.

Take a look at Depression Quest.

It's very deep and thought provoking. It might help give you some perspective on your life.

no such thing
>>
i often play classic Tony Hawk or SKATE games.

they're so cathartic to just skate around and let your mind go blank. Then soon enough, you're able to put some things into perspective.

You're probably shitposting but this actually got my depressed as fuck brother to get out of his apartment for a little while instead of sitting on his ass and playing Eve all day

The Shantae series always cheers me up.

It's impossible not to smile at the eternally optimistic cutie patooty half-genie. She's uplifting and adorable

Also the games are excellent
>>
>>344568568
I played WoW alot when I was depressed back in highschool. But I played so much I'd never go outside and it in turn leaded to more depression.
I quit hardcore gaming all together and I'm much better now. (still casul tho)
>>
>>344568568
None of them unless they're with people you know in real life.
Go play Pokemon Go and make some friends on your phone and then try to play multiplayer games with them.
Also, go see a psychologist
>>

It's crazy, I bro'd up with 4 guys as I walked around for 1 hour and a half.

Plus you get to 'exercise', helps with depression.
>>
>>344568568

I'm depressed and dissatisfied with my life but too lazy to change it for the better. I find escapism in video games, losing myself in worlds where I can more easily be the man I want to be.

As long as I keep playing, I don't have to think about my life and who I've become.
>>
literally any game can "help" with depression in the sense it distracts you
but none of them will actually help you cope with it

get help
>>
mmo or any rpg series you can play for a while to distract you
>>
If you are going through a break up, search in youtube videos about "how to forget about her" or shit like that

they actually help
>>
Persona 3 FES
>>
Lo the self diagnosed faggots.

Enjoying yourself helps with depression. Not video games. You're just using them as escapism to get away from the real problems that cause you depression.

Talk to someone, identify the reason for your depression and work on resolving it. Once you do that, even standing outside looking at the clouds becomes fun.

Get to the root of the problem.

we have no idea what causes long-term, clinical depression.

Short-term things, like death of a family member sure, but science still can't explain the recurring, long-term depression- aside from an apparent connection with serotonin and dopamine

Go to the gym, ignore everyone. Start small and just keep going, eventually you will be lifting what the swole faggots are. Everyone has to start at the bottom so don't feel bad. Exercising improves your mood, your self confidence and your self image which will all help. I have found in addition to that, once i am finished at the gym i feel like ive "earned" my gaming time, thats my time to be a lazy cunt and helps justify to myself atleast what others and to an extent myself think that i'm just wasting my time gaming.

I also found braid to help after a break up as faggot as that is, i don't care. Other than that only you know what games you like, i personally love ww2 so i play mostly things around that theatre.

If you want to get worse and not address your problems and escape some more, go play an mmo until you an hero.

>>344578248

Oh yea and what others said, psychologist/psychiatrist. I couldnt get out of bed if it wasnt for the anti-depresso's i am on. Although it took several tries before i found one that helped.

Despite what others say, it helps a fuck ton. Without them i feel constant feeling of despair, like when your in a dream and something bad is going to happen to you and you just know your about to die, it was like that constantly. Its more than "woe is me, life is so bad", it was nothing like that for me.
>>
>>344573618

>if you bulk and lift depression will disappear lol

you don't know nothing, i'm fit since two years and more depressed than ever
>>
>>344578783

That guy is full of shit, but he has a point that being physically fit helps in improving your mood. Its not going to solve it though and if you don't seek help, you are likely to focus on the negative of things and keep feeling like shit.

I also think there is a big diffirence between looking swole and being fit. Most guys lifting at the gym couldnt run the length of a football field.

Exercise can definitely help, both due to the inherent chemistry, and being in shape can help self image. That besides, it's a lot what everyone tells everyone. Eating well, making and maintaining good relationships, taking care of pets/plants/whatever, engaging in hobbies, getting to laugh more often. For me in particular, listening to more music has been a really helping. You don't have to work on it all at once, take it as little at a time as you need to, and don't let yourself fall back. And if you do, no problem, just keep digging at it until there's a breakthrough.

Oh and play the Katamari games, those are good too

Games only act as a mean of escapism.
Games won't "help" you with your depression, it's just going let your mind briefly focus on something else.
No one can save you but yourself.
>>
>>344570894
I would actually suggest this. Just don't get beaten up or raped
>>
>>344580880

Can be a bit of both. Even sad, depressing, moody tunes help me, as that sense of identifying with someone... I guess it makes you feel less lonely or some gay shit? It's hard to describe, but it works for me despite how counter-intuitive it would seem.
Definitely would suggest Spotify, especially if you already have at least a little taste developed in music already, since it's pretty good about suggesting similar songs for playlists and the discovery queue.
I could suggest some bands and tracks here but I'm sure /mu/ regulars would shit on it anyhow

Man, don't worry about it. I long stopped caring about other people shitting on my taste. I listen to some real random music and i know what you mean, i enjoy a good depressing track. Lately i fucking love vnv nation, its sort of cheesy and the lyrics do try to be abit "2deep4u" at times, but they really nail it sometimes.

Anyways just wanted to hear your opinion on why you thought it helps, i'm just glad it does. Nothing worse than when your in that pit and nothing can get you out and all seems lost.

All the best anon, off to my kip.
