My least favorite part about Overwatch is that now that TF2 has competitive, there's no point to playing Overwatch.
Overwatch has too many heros, too complicated.
No hats, therefore no customization of the advanced variety.
Most of the character types are direct copies of TF2. Crazy European doctor? Check! Professional foreign sniper? Check! Beefy Russian Heavy Weapons guy? Double Czech!
No extra weapons, therefore no skill variety.
And only like 3-4 maps with no community maps, weapons, or skins.

the problem is that ranked is going to take a long while until people actually end up in places that accurately reflect their rank.
this is because on the one side it's just been out a week and ranks are compressed (afaik there's nobody above 80 or 90 yet?), like 90% of people are inside 45-55 where in the future those people will be stretched over probably 25-75, so if you now get a game with mixes of 53-55 the actual skill differences can be giant from player to player.
the second is that it's a 6 player game so your personal contributions are severely diminished by the fact that you are playing against 6 people, no matter how good you are.
overall it still works, of course, it's really basic statistics, but the fact that it hasn't been out long and that it's a 6 player team means that variance from game to game is going to be huge (which means that on average people will have to play a ton of games in order to arrive at their true average level of skill)

I feel you. This ranking system is pretty shit and it's made worse by the fact that OW's playerbase is absolute garbage. The majority of players seem to think they're playing BOIII or BF and go for kill stats and medals, completely ignoring the objective. Fuckin reapers and tracers everywhere.
The most frustrating games are the zone defense ones where your team just charges ignores the zone, gets rekt near the opponents spawn point and you literally stand there by yourself at the objective. Why even play competitive if you don't care for team wins?

Two reasons: They're team games and their genre.
Team games are popular among friends who like to play together, these are generally in groups larger than two. One v One games don't attract nearly as many.
Genre is also important as MOBAs and FPS games are still on the peak of popularity while Strategy and Fighting games have always had a niche audience. It's simply a smaller market.

Am I glad I don't give a shit about that terrible ranked. This game is to reliant on non-braindead teammates. It may have worked in the early 00's but literally every kid, girl and their mom have a PC and it shows how the quality of players dropped.
