Garrosh started off alright, aside from the fact that Blizzard used him to kill off Cairne for no particular reason. (In a goddamn fucking book that maybe 10% of the playerbase has read. A lot of people STILL don't know Cairne died and that Baine's the leader of the Tauren.)
Then Attack on Theramore happened and his character was thrown into the dump because people cried, bitched, and moaned about not liking him so Blizzard had to rewrite him and make him "the bad guy", and yeah, we all see how that turned out.
Stuff like that and the Ji Firepaw controversy is why Blizzard should probably NEVER listen to their fans ever again. That "You think you want it, but you don't." quote does actually have some semblance of truth in it.

I think it's not so much as they don't have any idea of what to do with the story, it's that, frankly, they're running out of things TO do. I think that's why something like WoD, as bad as it was, had to come along and help somewhat in making it so they now have a story going, and an opportunity to do something like Legion.
I think Blizzard is betting everything on Legion after having gambled with WoD, and, to be fair, Legion does already look better than WoD. I do hope they're successful with it and Legion's more of a MoP 2.0 than a WoD 2.0.

Yes the guy saved Felwood and banished the leader of the dreadlords on Azeroth.
But in legion they are making him out to be this guy that did only those things while ignoring the hundreds of casualties on the side. The guy destroyed everything around him to succeed his own personal goals.
In one quest you have Illidan killing his own apprentices to power himself to destroy a demon and the Naaru tells the player that he did it for the greater good when it's clear as day that it's still really evil to just outright slaughter everything around you.
Arthas was never potrayed as this hero, but he's still loved by many because a lot of the problems he faced was while he was pushed against a wall and had to make snap decisions. When he started to slaughter his own people it was because the whispers of frostmourne.

This whole thing is so stupid, convoluted, and senseless it just boggles my mind trying to understand it.
First of all the rules of Mak'Gora are not clear. The lore rules of Mak'Gora state no armor and only one weapon. This is clearly outdated because every case of Mak'Gora we have seen in game and in the new movie the characters all wear armor and don't give a shit. Second of all in what way does magic classify as a weapon? Shamans in particular, can they only choose the elements vs a physical weapon? If they choose the elements can they use them all or just one? Would a mage only be allowed to use one school of magic? Do they have a limit on their spells? Shit is not clear at all.
Second of all, the 'repercussions' of that fight is Thrall is now cut off from the elements. This makes absolutely zero sense on so many levels i just don't understand. First and foremost, how and why the fuck are the elements on azeroth angry with him? Draenor is a different time, place, and universe, the elements there are completely different, they're even called furies instead of elements. There's even a fucking quest in WoD where thrall mentions he's having a hard time connecting them and using their powers because it's so different. Azeroth elements being mad at him makes no sense. Second of all what are they even mad at exactly? Some people say they're mad he cheated using their power but that's bullshit, the elements don't give a fuck about mortal men's ideas of right and wrong. I think what supposedly the case is, is that the elements are mad because thrall forcefully used their power instead of asking for it. This is even more stupid. Do shamans just request help from the elements every single time they cast a spell? That's retarded. Isn't it more of a connection you have with them like paladins/priests with the light? Fucking goblins can use the elements and garrosh had dark shamans literally torture elements and still used their power after.

I think the reason they're not doing it is that players didn't enjoy a lot the underwater leveling experience in cataclysm so they are afraid of repeating the mistake.
Personally I enjoyed the underwater parts, some of it was a bit difficult to navigate maybe but it was beautiful.
They still could make a naga centered expansion where the nagas come on the surface rather than the other way around.

Kinda this. Movement feels so slow down there because most of the time you're not on the ground but slightly above it, and even when you're actually faster than on land, it feels like you're so slow, on top of having a more vertical level design.
I'm all for a single underwater raid but not a whole leveling zone.
