Hey /V, I'm not sure if I this thread is the place for this, but I have a problem that does not seem to be in any troubleshooting forum I have been to yet.
When I plug in my Xbox 360 Gaming receiver, the light lights up, but when I press the button, nothing happens. The light doesn't flash, and the controller won't connect.
Is there something I can do? Is my Receiver broken?
If there is a different place on 4chan that could help me, then please redirect me there.

Press the button on the receiver, then press the correlating button on your controller. Or vice versa. The button you need to press is the small round one at the top of the controller, next to the charge port.

device manager, install microsoft common class controller, xbox wireless receiver.
OP what is your OS

Go to the link, choose your OS, download the software + drivers
If it does not work after this, it's either your receiver or something else
If you have Windows 10, it already natively supports the wireless receiver.
Hold both the sync on the device and the controller. Make sure the controller has good batteries. If still nothing, try another USB port.
If all else fails, just get a wired controller or a wired adapter for the controller.
Does anyone know if the chink copy works on Win10? Mine is black and it says "X 360" on the receiver
you can get a ps3 controller, if that fails too

The 360 receiver has a fuse in it that loves to blow. I've been through 3 of them so far, but because I have 4 xbox controllers I keep buying them. At least they're only $15 now.

Quite often the same thing happens to me. Go into device manager and you'll see an unknown device there. Right click and choose 'update driver' then locate the 360 driver and reinstall. Ms puts a copy of the driver files under the program files directory after the first install if the 360 wireless receiver doesn't show up in the list already.

you have to install the software/drivers.
when I install them I have to do some manual file stuff I can't remember. and then you have to press an hold it for a few secs until it starts blinking then press the sync on the controller too.
Mine fucks up sometimes. I just change USB port and it works again.

I can vouch for this. Had to move the receiver to a connection on the back of my PC and close to where I actually play. Range may be an issue.
