Can't the wii U play gamecube games then? If not, then I would still say wii U>wii, because the amount of good gamecube games isn't that high imo and the good gamecube games can easily be emulated.
Wii had more good games. Wii U is the better console. That being said, Wii had the absolute worst Mario Kart and Wii U had the best one. So there's no clear cut winner.

Everyone but two people from MKWii are in MK8.

Which fixes the endless red/blue spamming and makes it so the guy in first place can't just shell block forever.

You're also overlooking the massive list of flaws in Mario Kart Wii. Horrible item rates, horrible controls, races bumped up to 12 racers at a time but with smaller tracks than in previous games, the worst new stages in MK history, etc. Mario Kart 8 fixed all of these.

I think MKWii has better maps and items. Other than that MK8 is better.
