Most japanese fantasy does that, all western shit are awful at fantasy though literally the same shit.

Because any variation on the genre has basically been done. So why bother trying to make a new lore for something known when you can just get easy marketing by making it similar to something else when you can just say it's inspired by (insert well known fantasy series).
