ZTD's cinematic style, yay or nay?
http://www.strawpoll.me/10703506
Just mindhack me, anon
I get the point of the cinematics, but you lost out on a lot of the richness of writing that the games had previously
This game must have been a breeze to translate unlike the previous games
>>344390463
Cinematics meant barely any internal monologues which was an amusing part of Sigma
Not enough Simpsons-related memes.
Considering there are no 3ds emulators for VLR the next game I should play is 999, right?
>>344392770
>he played ZTD first
No, you sit in the corner and think about how badly you fucked up.
Then you play 999.
So I have avoid spoilers except the name Delta and the first ending I got was Q's and decided to type Delta in because why not. Sure as fuck didn't expect it to trigger an ending so I immediately jumped back and killed Eric.
>>344392770
either that or just wait for the remastered 999 version for PC and the VLR port
Just finished it.
It really wasn't that bad but yeah it was way weaker than the other two games. Still had ton of fun and im kinda sad that this great series is now over.
Oh well time to look foward for Danganronpa V3 now.
It honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be.
Cinematics make it more "gamey" and opens a market of people who don't want to try novels in fear of being considered weaboo or something like that.
But art style and budget suffer, obviously. So it's neither future nor horrible decision. It's a dilemma.
ZE4 when
>>344395230
never ever
Just got an email my Watch order shipped?
>>344390463
I did like the cinematic approach, but they really didn't need to do it for everything.
It would have been nice to have some more classic VN stuff, I feel like we lost a lot of potential content because of the budget constraints and cinematics.
>>344398028
Mine did too, finally.
TIME TO DEICIDE!
So who was/what was that aboutThe cloaked girl assuming is Phi? who kills DianaOr is this a red herring?
>>344398781It's Mira.Look at the chart that preceded that one.
Was that really the ending?Do we not get to see what Carlos picks and its just an open ended ending? Please tell me there is more
>>344396246
Was getting shot part of your plan?
>>344399313
In your files screen theres some epilogue dialogue to read but yes it does basically cliffhanger you.
>>344399313
There's some post-game files but otherwise that's your lot
Does anybody have the map of the merged wards?
At least ZTD had top tier husbandos.
Very disappointing ending
VLR and 999 both ended on some high notes and in ZTD all we get is some files saying "they lived happily ever after"
WHY DID DELTA KILL THE DOGGY
LITERALLY WHAT REASON
>>344400142
The Dog knew too much. Delta had no choice.
>>344400142
I think he was doing it a favor,
Still though I'm surprised the dog didn't play any particular role besides helping zero he was more of a background object
>>344390463
the idea was good, but the animations were terrible
>>344400142
Way too complex for you to understand
Did Delta love Gab, in his own way?
It's too sad to think that Gab was stuck with a complete uncaring sociopath is his master for his whole life.
>>344400482
I can't fathom how he'd be compassionate about anything; even one step off the perfect path would make him think "Welp, this timeline's fucked, time to dump all my data on a SHIFTer and hope they get Mind Hacked by my past self".
All that power and the best he can do is blanket wipe-out 75% of the population to get one guy.
>>344398210
...that was pretty clever desu.
>>344400142
So the 9 wouldn't feel bad about leaving him behind when they SHIFT.
>>344403061
>implying Gab can't SHIFT
>>344403061
If you remember what Delta said is that everyone is a shifter besides Mira and Eric (who still can shift because of everyone else) he never excluded Gab of not being a shifter either
>>344403061
HE WAS GONNA DIE ANYWAYS BECAUSE OF THE BOMB
WTF
WHERE DID THIS HEADCANNON COME FROM I'M SEEING IN EVERYWHERE NOW IT'S IDIOTIC
Zero did nothing wrong.
If Delta is Zero, then who the fuck was Zero?
>>344403402
Everyone liked Gab, even Zero in the Payoff 2 ending.
>>344403563
>lmao if you don't roll 3 ones you all die

Just ignore that anon that believes that lack of contrary evidence counts as evidence. He comes up with the dumbest things.
>>344392849
No shit. Why the fuck would anyone play ZTD first in a series where the backstory is so vital.
The music direction was awful.
A lot of tracks were overused, like Trepidation and Blue Bird. Made them lose all the impact
>>344393753
>art style
Nah the art style was great all around if you look at a lot of the stuff from the artbook and the participant portraits on the Crash Keys twitter. Which just makes the ugly end result all the more disappointing.
>the culmination of the entire point of the series is so Evil Stan Lee gets his mom and dad to fuck and watches
Hmmm... Always went for the grand ending scheme, huh, Uchikoshi?

>>344407190
>The climax of Akane and Sigma's entire decades long struggle through spacetime for the fate of humanity is everyone holding hands and teleporting their minds away and then getting talked at by Delta some more
Honest to God I could have forgiven everything else but I just wanted some kind of buildup or climax to the ending and I didn't get it. That was the worst part of it all.
>Make people wait four years for a conclusion to VLR's stupid giant cliffhanger, weaving in and out of development hell and hyping it up to be a big finale to the franchise
>lol nah here's a plot point we threw in at the last minute because we wanted Delta to be morally grey so we're just gonna have him MGS2 you and that's gonna be it
These motivations are too complex for me to understand Uchikoshi
>>344407546
>Name 1 japanese series that doesn't have a shit ending
>>344407954
You are right
The proper question would be "Name one plot-heavy japanese serie of vidya/VN that doesn't have a shit ending"
>>344407965
One game is not a series
>>344407801
That reminds me, does anyone have a screenshot of the button where WARNING DO NOT PRESS is clearly visible? Need it to accomplish my goals
>>344407878
Some 10/10 moments and plot twists mixed in and it's clear the ideas were there but killed by no interaction outside the 3 teams, no character development whatsoever and the stupid "lol we ran out of money" endingEver17> VLR > 999 >= ZTD
>>344407892
>I hated her desu.
How? She wasn't bitchy and accepted what she was told and most of all, she's hot as fuck.
Eric was annoying as fuck because he was way to overly attached to her and should have been obvious she don't give a shit.
>>344407965
>series
The best segment of the whole game was the ending where Sigma and Diana got locked up together. I expected some quick fade to black, but I got to watch them for like twenty minutes.
But what was Sigma's deal with telling her not to drink? They're locked up, let her get wasted until it's all gone.
>>344408129
sure she was pretty nice, aside from the fact that she's a crazy killer
>>344408161
It just wasn't a good idea for her to get shitfaced in that state of mind. I mean, you saw how crazy she got. He let her drink, he just stopped her from drinking too much.
>>344407546
>Name 1 japanese series that doesn't have a shit ending
Well it's not vidya but here ya go
>>344408129
Psychopath and literal serial killer who treats her clearly traumatized boyfriend like dirt and murders basically everyone at least once and gets off scot-free at the end for stupid asspull reasons
I have no problem with crazy murder characters but at least stick to your guns, god damn. Ace and Dio didn't get happy endings because they didn't deserve them
>>344408161
Because only a retard would get drunk instead of doing her best to survive.
>>344408113
I have this
>>344408274
>hating her because she is a serial killer
She killed less people than the others if you add the deaths in all the timelines
>>344408526
but she caused everything to happen
>b-but the snail
>>344393328
Exactly what I feel.
Music was still great though.
>>344408481
>who treats her clearly traumatized boyfriend like dirt and murders basically everyone at least once and gets off scot-free at the end for stupid asspull reasons
Eric is a blatant retard who deserves it and she went to prison in the end. It's the shitty writer who is trying to make her erase what's she's done with the retarded teleporter.
If you guys had the cash, would you give some to help make the game?
C O M P L E X
>>344408485
If we want to talk about things retards would do, it's knowingly locking up your future parents with extremely low stocks of food. It's a wonder those kids turned out okay.
>>344408645
>a single person is to blame for GROWN adults making bad decisions
I don't see how she is to blame for that retard terrorist who plans to trigger all humans dying anyways like he ain't got no connection to her.
>>344408904
>he ain't got no connection to her.
that you know of
>>344408526
>add the deaths in all the timelines
Good luck explaining that to the police
>>344408161
>The best segment of the whole game was the ending where Sigma and Diana got locked up together. I expected some quick fade to black, but I got to watch them for like twenty minutes.
I feel like every ending should have basically been 20 minutes of what happens and deciding which of the many multiverse endings you think is the "best" one should have been the point.
>>344408694
Eric is a nice guy who is super fucked up from childhood trauma, blames himself for his abusive father's murder of his brother and genuinely believes Mira is the only thing making his life worth living to the point that he goes fucking insane when she dies. I don't know how you can play through the whole game and call him a retard when it's clearly not under his control
Mira is the one who takes advantage of him and blatantly doesn't give a shit about this severely mentally ill guy
>teleporter
She still gets to be the good guy and gets a better ending than she deserved. Not an excuse
>>344409292
>retard when it's clearly not under his control
retards can't help it either desu
>>344409376
And I'm sure you/they were definitely literally referring to someone with a disability when you/they called Eric a retard.
>>344409292
>Eric snaps when Mira dies just like his Dad did when his mom died.
I wish this was touched on more in the game, a timeline where he somehow realizes what he's becoming could have been pretty hard hitting and given Eric a much needed sympathetic moment.
>>344409503
I honestly think Eric is clinically retarded.
>>344409610
Yeah, that's not a bad idea anon, but could you work a way for him to gain possession of a shotgun somehow?
I feel like Eric didn't get enough shotguns.
>>344409668
Severe trauma and dependency =/= mental retardation
>>344409610
I thought that was the direction the Pod Room was going with him and Sean and I was really sad when it didn't happen. I mostly just wanted him to stand up for himself and see that his life is actually worth living without Mira
imo best would have been
>Mira tries to kill Sean bc 5 people are already dead and they can escape
>Eric gets mad and protects him
>Mira gets super confused and freaked out bc she has no understanding of human emotion and she genuinely thinks what she's doing is okay and it's what Eric wants
Eric would have gotten his development as a character, Mira would be sympathetic without totally getting it brushed under the rug and it would have been one of the saddest confrontations in the game desu especially if one of them died
>>344409869
Were there any routes where Eric gets mad and calls Sean a brat, or where he snaps and threatens to kill everyone? I really wished that would have happened at least once
>>344409292
Eric is retarded so i don't care what you say, he's an adult and not a kid and should be plain obvious mira gives no fucks about him.
Mira at least took his advice in the end and went to prison and then that fucking hack Ukioshi was like NOPE.
Mira is whatever but don't defend that dumb retard Eric who's fucking trigger happy over some chick who gives zero shit about him.
I was so pissed when he had his gun down so many times and Sigma didn't beat his shit in.
TFW you pretend to rape Akane but jokes on her the only thing you're married to is America
>>344408526
But she injected Phi with the Radical 6
>>344410240
>Eric is retarded
>No he isn't here's the very clear plot supported reason why he does these things
>lol I dont care what you say
Glad to hear. Conversation's over if you're just going to respond to me with stupid nonsense.
Eric easily the worst character in the franchise.
Even that faggot in 999 who ditched everyone in the beginning was better than this shit.
Wasnt Dio supposed to be menctioned in this game?
Is he a clon of Delta?
>>344410304
And then your sister in the future
Don't forget about that.
>>344410443
Clone of Left.
>>344410341
Why didn't Phi kill herself knowing she is gonna spread the virus if kept alive?
The cene with Eric and his boter is weird. Did his fatherdrown his little brother and then force Eric to thro the body in a lake or something.
I didn't lie how Eric's terriblel trauma got glossed over for memes and humor. mean e pours his heart out and then Mira just kill him in that one end calling shitting on him (that part wasn't te radical-6).
>>344410341
And Diana clearly had the opportunity to leave behind this woman who death means absolutely nothing for and instead she took her to the hospital and knowingly started the apocalypse
When VLR had her radio transmission I expected it to be this horrible bleak scene where she tries and fails to stop the virus and is just sitting there among the bodies of her friends completely hopeless but nah she was just really stupid
>>344410471
Shit, it would have been cooler if he was Delta cloned and sent to another timeline ala Sigma and Diana
>>344410440
>muhh daddy issues
There's characters that have had it far worse aren't as retarded
>>344410592
yeh eic dit lie mira wen e keill aher
>>344410665
No point int that since Delta can't shift.
>>344410632
Yeah i hate this shounen shit trope where people value friendship over everything. I mean these are grown ass adults and should make better decisions but nah.
>>344410697
I just worked a 10 hour shift, give me a break.
I just feel really bad for Eric. Before meeting Mira his life sucked but it seemed he was trying his hardest.
>only person that ever cared about him was murdered
>defends a murderer
Shit makes no sense
>>344410916
It kind of cheapens the moment imo
There was so much buildup to the Radical-6 release and Sigma getting mutilated that I expected it to be the crazy dramatic horrifying climax of the route but it was just
>Hey I know we can't disarm this bomb but I'm gonna try anyway
>lol whoops it didnt work
>Hey I know I can't take you to the hospital without bringing about the End of Days and killing almost all of humanity but I'm gonna try anyway
>LOL WHOOPS IT DIDN'T WORK EITHER
>tfw you realize that Delta always knows about the nuclear war end for humanity because a ton of people must consistently alway be shifting back to various points in his life after dying
Eric would get more sympathy if his past wasn't explained in 5 minutes using 1 background image and sad music.
So, to sum it up:
>Delta has mind hacking abilities and a quantum conputer
>He's able to get enough informations and assets to find out the truth about his birth and make his existence possible and set up a game while taking in account shifting and multiple timelines
>Yet he's not able to find a single fucker who blew himself up
>Needs to wipe out humanity so that 9 random idiots can stop him and will be somehow able to find said fucker
What the actual fuck delta.
>>344411371
I think it's Carlos the one that shifted back with the info.
Which is why Delta allowed him to participate in ZTD.
>>344411436
>>He's able to get enough informations and assets to find out the truth about his birth and make his existence possible and set up a game while taking in account shifting and multiple timelines
Mustn't be that hard if dumbkane was able to do it.
Someone post that carlos pic where he's in a fireman suit and realized he fucked up.
>>344411436
>The series has shown that if you go back in time and make a different decision it just creates another timeline and nothing really happens
>Delta creates another fucking Nonary Game just to solidify the time loop anyway
Why even bother when the series has shown it doesnt fucking matter
Why not just spray Radical-6 into the air at a FtS gathering or pick someone to be injected
Why were those three vials of Radical-6 the only ones in the facility if it was so important
Why did Uchikoshi maintain the balance between good writing and full retard so carefully in 999 and VLR and then just drop it here
It doesnt make sense
>your mum is a capable SHIFTer
>your dad is one of the strongest SHIFTer if not strongest there is
>you can't SHIFT yourself
good that they didn't name him Alpha
>>344411775
>Why not just spray Radical-6 into the air at a FtS gathering or pick someone to be injected
The facility was needed to create the fantastic 8, not to spread the virus.
>>344411967

>>344411775
For 999 and VLR, he had competent producers making sure he didn't do anything too stupid, which he complained about. For ZTD, he had full freedom to put whatever he wanted in without much supervision.
>got fucked over by the amazon debacle
>decide to pirate the PC version so I could at least play it.
>do a couple of hours each day, finished it last night
>got an email this morning saying that it has been shipped
Well at least I can leave it shrink wrapped.
Mira is Eric's mom, and was killed by herself in that alter-timeline, right?
So Q is Delta and is supposed to be there all the time
Killing Saun will not give you a Password
How did Eric and Mira escape after launching a granade to Saun?
>>344411775
He needed this to ensure his birth. Also Radical 6 is not always released. Dleta was trying to create that one good timeline, radical-6 was just thrown in their so humanity doesnot come to a complete end in some of the timelines.
>>344412967
Delta was blown up as well, notice the shadow when the grenade was at Sean's feet, and note the smoke marks coming from Delta's body behind the desk after the explosion.
>>344412639
No. Psychopathy has no cure. She just turns herself in because it would be too troublesome otherwise and Eric is currently the only person she wants to kill. She could never become Eric's mom.
>>344412639

Welcome to 4chan.
I feel like I'm missing something really important.
The idea that there timelines for every possibility means that if the possibility exists, then that universe must exist (like rolling the three ones, or the rock paper scissors tournament).
So what's the fucking point of any of this? There's already a universe where radical-6 doesn't escape or where the religious dude fails for some reason. All the characters are doing is selfishly trying to get their consciousness into the best universe. It seems pretty pointless when you look at the big picture.
>>344414829
Those universes only exist because Delta went and created them all. That's why his motives are COMPLEX.
>>344391708
This. Internal monologue was incredible, a real shame we lost it this time around.
>>344414959
The universes weren't created. They exist because the possibility of them existing is > 0.
Delta is as much a pawn of fate as anyone else.
>>344414829
>All the characters are doing is selfishly trying to get their consciousness into the best universe
That's Akane for you.
Sigma is trying to save his waifu/shift to a timeline where she's alive(still selfish as fuck)
The rest are victims.
Just to confirm, it was Mira who killed Eric's my right? Because Eric said the exact same thing as the woman who was Mira's first kill, and Eric's mum died around the same time.
Kind of makes it sick that he is in love with the person who ruined his and everyone else's lives.
>>344415354
yes
and the man who was convicted for the murder was akane's dad
>>344415071
Those specific ones only exist because Delta took the action to make them.
Or fate guided Delta to take those actions. It's the same shit.
Eriku did nothing wrong.
>>344405851
>Dio
Awful
>>344415526
>Or fate guided Delta to take those actions. It's the same shit.
Right, exactly.
The "good ending" universe must exist because there is a possibility that Delta would go through all that stupid shit. So the best ending was already an inevitability.
That goes into what they were saying about the 2^100 tournament, and the anthropic principle.
>>344390463
Would have worked better if it had an actual budget to have good animation.
>>344415804
Nah, the animations and facial expressions provided half the entertainment value.
So we can agree that VLR was the best overall game yes?
Wait how the fuck did Delta know about the terrorist? If everyone died, there was no one to shift back to a point where he could mind hack them.
>>344416008
999 was the best for me. I was more emotionally invested.
It's pretty close though.
>>344416008
I personally prefer 999.
>>344416098
I guess someone who was a split-second away from dying shifted back and he just happend to mindo hakku them.
>>344416008
999>VLR>ZTD in my opinion
>>344416098
probably because of sigmas future consciousness
>>344416098
Also how does a single terrorist somehow spark an all-out nuclear war?
Like, sure, a singular nuclear explosion I can understand, but how is it possible to orchestrate it so that it escalates from there?

You don't swap places with the other version of you in VLR, jumping is distinct from SHIFTing. Phi and Sigma still jump a couple of times in ZTD too.
The problem with jumping is that the transferred memories are hazy and the receiving end may not even remember them at all.
how come junpei didn't feel akane's heartbeat
Do we have any sales data/estimates? I wanna know if we can expect more from Uchi, and if it'll have the budget it deserves.

Not only the cast, but actual mysteries and detective cases are infinitely better in the sequel, on par with the best Ace Attorney cases. And development of certain characters in DR2 was just outstanding.
>>344429910
Man, the canucks were on point with this one
>>344429487
Are you seriously retarded?
Every single time someone SHIFTed in VLR, they didn't keep any memories from the body they shifted into. There was no confusion, and all memories from the body they shifted from were retained. Meanwhile, Phi in ZTD explicitly says she remembers things from other timelines because of jumping, and just like in VLR, those memories are vague. So jumping clearly hasn't been retconned into SHIFTing. It's two different things.
>>344430120
>infinitely better in the sequel
That's REALLY arguable
>>344417107
Shouldn't this say "Delta knew he was in trouble"?
>>344430454
>They didn't keep any memories from the body they shifted into
If that was the case, when you shift back to enter a password you got from the other timeline, Sigma should be like, "wtf why am I inputting a password at a bomb? Luckily I just got the password!". But no, he has the memories of before as soon as he entered the body so he knows what's going on as he arrives.
>Junpei doesn't even mention Snake or Clover during his Decontamination Room monologue
Fuck...
>>344430454
>Phi in ZTD explicitly says she remembers things from other timelines because of jumping
Any examples? When does she mention jumping?
>Every single time someone SHIFTed in VLR, they didn't keep any memories from the body they shifted into. There was no confusion, and all memories from the body they shifted from were retained.
How strange that Carlos is confused on how he remembers random stuff from different timelines after SHIFTing then. Also shouldn't he call bullshit on playing the AB game a second time when he keeps all his memories perfectly after SHIFTing?
>>344431724
>When does she mention jumping?
D-Team execution scene, she suggests it to Sigma before the collars pop their heads.
>>344431170
Sigma had cybernetic implants connected to the quantum computer
>>344432062
>D-Team execution scene
If we go with the jumping!=SHIFTing theory then Phi has to be retarded. Why send hazy memories of their execution to themselves if they can't change anything anyway. With SHIFTing they could at least stay alive in another timeline and learn something new.

What do you actually want, pulling a Professor X and trying to mind hack each person on earth until you find the guy?
Even with the quantum computer going back in time in an alternate timeline to eliminate the people he already hacked it'd still take forever.
And for all we know, he may actually be doing that as a backup plan in some random timeline.
>>344441334
it's not like Earth was fucked up beyond repair. The reactor fallout lasted about 5 years or so if I remember. Civilization was already getting back on their feet. There were bars, hospitals, etc.
They still used cars, so gas was still being produced.

He wouldn't really need to fabricate R6 then

Because future Sigma/Phi/Akane sure helped

I see...
Was the alien bullshit a lie or fact?
Is that other virus a cure for R6 a lie or fact?
My theory about the ending after knowing Delta is Sigma son
>Akane said K is the only one who could save this at the end of VLR
>K is SIgma clone/son
>K shift back thru time to Delta Body because K is compatible with him
>K save everything or something by shifting to Delta body
>Game doesnt even mention it...
i was utterly dissapoint of the ending to be honest

I dunno, I kind've want some characters to return. Maybe not anyone from the Team D/VLR crew (except for Kyle?)--they should just live happily ever after.Admittedly, though, when I said I want some to return I mainly mean Carlos. I think Uchi's mistake was making a direct sequel with SO MANY plot threads left hanging. It wasn't entirely botched, but I think ZE games are best when you have very little character knowledge and expectations going in and aren't expecting a bunch of shit to be resolved well

>>344404335
>"???" Is you the player I thought that didn't need any explaining at this point
Yes, but Akane explicitly stated that you, the player, would have a big role in ZTD and yet you were never brought up.
She also mentioned that Sigma wouldn't dare leave Kyle behind and yet he's never mentioned. Not even when Sigma is whining about Luna and Lagomorph never going to be created in one of the histories.
I think we can safely say the most bullshit thing in the whole franchise is how people can solve anagrams more than 30 letters long in a few seconds.

Only once, but not the way we thought he would. It's still pretty disappointing considering his backstory and all that buildup.
So if Jumping is distinct from SHIFTing, can anyone with one ability do the other? Or are there Jumpers and SHIFTers, with one only being able to do the other when they have their powers amplified by other espers?
Also, are the definitions pretty much:
Jump: to send memories to yourself in another time without your consciousness making a complete transfer or swapping with the other self.
SHIFT: To completely swap consciousnesses with another self at a different place in time.
>>344444402
