Do the Untold versions add much to their games mechanics wise?
Also, any hints/tips on Starting out a new game? AFAIK its tanks front, archer + magic back

The ability to use monster skills and some new classes. Also better class balance than the DS games.

Not really, just floor jump and a few new classes. Also grimoires but those are only ok in 2. Oh and entirely new maps. Magic can be in front if you use palm alchemists, but generally you have the right idea.
