I got turned of by the ranking system working entirely off of how many turns you take.

I pulled it off. Basically this entire game is extreme trial and error. In the PS3 days, my dumbass spent days getting S rank due to repeating the same missions dozens of times and memorizing enemy positions.

Don't be fooled. It's a puzzle game, not a tactical/strategy game.
If you're fine with that it's pretty good. The game is badly balanced though, you can easily break it in many different ways. Some of the most efficient ways to win often don't make sense.
Oh and also, there is a LOT of dialogue, which can be a turnoff especially since the story and characters are your generic animushit.

Does it really not? I remember thinking it was pretty cool they added those to the PC version considering there's basically no water in the game.
I liked it because it was a game about war that focused on people and their relationships through the context of a war.
The actual strategy gameplay is a little simplistic.
