I can't even begin to tell you how amazing I thought this looked when I first saw it.
Then they released the game, and it was okay, but there was so much room for improvement.
Then they decided to refine the weaker and less interesting aspect of what they had created and essentially turned it more and more through each entry into a generic stealth game, but which was built on a core that was going to be something completely different, and then proceed to be stuck in the same boring settings when they could have gone ANYWHERE.
They have pretty much not improved any of the core aspects they were going for here. A real shame.

Despite the original's failings, I think it remains the most interesting in the series simply because its emphasis on infiltration, assassination, and exfiltration made the premise feel better actualized than in the games that followed. I just imagine how the game would look and play today, had they doubled down on the "football crowd" idea and maybe implemented the same tech that the Madden games use for tackles and stuff when running around in a big crowd. Personally the ideal thing would be for the game to play like Mirror's edge with as much manual control from the player as possible, all the way down to actually aiming and performing the jumps onto the guy you're chasing.

One simple decision to dumb down gameplay for kiddies, ruined what could have been one of the best evolution games ever.
If L.A. Noire had been maybe 10 hours longer in main story, with actual side content and stuff to do in the world, and maybe double the vehicles, it would be perfect.
Still had a blast playing it and don't get why people shit on it so much.
Bully gets praised and yet Bully's world is way more boring and pointless when you're not on a mission (also still a fun game).
After GTA IV and V I'd much rather have Noire 2 and Bully 2 than GTA VI.
Oh well at least Red Dead 3 is coming.

The Longest Journey is not only one of the only good point and click adventure games, it's just a phenomenal game in its own right. One of my favourite games ever, with interesting and clever puzzles, and a genuinely unique story. Dreamfall is disappointing shit, with pretty much literally no puzzles, and a much worse story. And worst of all, they destroyed the characterization of the main character from The Longest Journey, who is one of the best female protagonists ever. Just such a disappointment
