Does /v/ like games about time travel?
>>
I liked Stein's Gate and YU-NO
>>
>>344337845
They're definitely on my backlog. I'm playing through Remember 11 right now.
>>
The more I think about it, the more it's probably my favorite sci-fi thing. Back to the Future is one of my favorite movies and favorite telltale game, Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite JRPG's, Steins;Gate is my favorite VN, and Time Splitters 2 is my favorite FPS.

Currently playing Radiant Historia, the RPG for the DS on my phone. Didn't get very far.
Pros
>Great music
>great battle system
>good controls
>no random encounters, enemies are on the map
Cons
>backtracking leads to slow world building.
>white is good. black is evil
>>

Remember11 is terrible
>>
No. I absolutely cannot stand time travel in really any form. A majority of the time it starts off really interesting and promising, but then ends up explaining everything away with, "It's time travel!" Very few games or other forms of media actually try to explain how time travel influences things and just uses it as a more scientific form of magic.

Bioshock Infinite is somewhat of a good example. It mixes multi-dimensional concepts with seemingly time travel in the story. So you'll get moments where you hop dimensions/travel back so that you can get items or change events. But then things get so muddled that by the end you've got Elizabeth pulling a key out and saying, "It's always been there, I just couldn't see it." I know it can be done well, but most of the time it's awful or it'd just be better if they replaced it with outright magic.
>>
help me /v/, i tried playing YU-NO, but it gives me an registry error and i cant seem to fix it

Have you tried switching to Japanese Locale? You need that for most VNs.

Not in particular: Most games really don't think their premises through, requiring me to just chuck my brain at the door most of the time. It can make for some fun environmental reuse, though.

I only liked R11, ghost trick, and YU-NO.
S;G was incredibly boring, and the ending was pretty lame.
ZE is filled with potholes, twists for the sake of twists, and ZTD was awful.

Never seen a sci-fi story going into quantum mechanic math. Then again, I'm not that big into sci-fi.

Examples?
>>
>>344342608
It doesn't go into the actual mathematics themselves but even basic descriptions and so on. Like discussing math without equations which I would assume is the commonplace method in books. I don't know if that makes sense though. Even descriptions of quantum effects, like a person losing their corporeal body and becoming comprised of nothing more than quantum wave functions, throws me for a loop.
>>
>>344342005
YU-NO and Stein's;Gate were pretty much about equal until the second half of YU-NO which just made the whole thing blow Stein's;Gate (and everything else) far out of the water.

Yeah, you can't really visualize quantum mechanics without being misleading. Spooky shit happens there. It's better to accept that certain quantum effects simply exists if you can't into that kind of math.
>>
>>344341258
> likes r11
> hates steins gate
Are you me? Godly taste
>>
>>344343534
Oh yeah I get that they exist and things happen and all. My problem is that I'm unable to comprehend the mathematics/physics behind any of it. I've consumed a lot of media involving QM but I'll never fundamentally understand it, if any of that makes sense.

I do like how things get spooky and wish I understood it better.
>>
>>344337605
I only like one way time travel.

Old physicist joke: not even physicist understand quantum mechanics. And it's true. They calculate instead.

Our senses simply aren't calibrated to that world. So in that sense no one "understands" it, only its effects. You're trying the impossible.
>>
>>344343906
A plain cabbage wouldn't taste nice.
>>
>>344344332
That too. I know that even QM experts claim to not understand QM. I suppose I was trying to suggest that I wish I could 'understand' it to the degree how anybody with a competence in the subject would. Brain damage is frustrating, man.

Who does this?

What kind of straight up psychopath bites straight into a cabbage drizzled with ketchup? Her dick sucking lips are small so you can tell she had to bite into it like five times. Is she being tortured? Is this her punishment, is that why she's so determined to eat that cabbage?

He meant that Bioshock Infinite was a good example of BAD time travel ie what he describes in the first few sentences
>>
>>344344646
Is hard to understand, the mere action of watching transmit energy to the system, since a photon is energy, so instead of knowing what happens, you know what COULD happen, this is a really shitty example ,imagine a circular track, and a car moving in it, you know it is in the track, but you don't know where, and the only way of seeing the car is by shooting it with a bazooka, you can see the problem, since, you know , the bazooka will throw the car out of the road, in the moment you see it, it changes its behaviour, i did my best.
