Fucking hell, Witcher 1 is a massive grindfest. It feels like I'm playing a single player MMO game. I'm 10 hours in and all of the quests are "Go to X and come back with their response", "you need to go to X and kill Y for me before I give you info", and "collect X for me"
I'm not even taking witcher contracts.
Is witcher 3 really that great, or can I stop playing now?

Witcher 1 was a cult classic which was good for back then if you take out the combat.
Witcher 2 was a nice step up and a decent RPG to play through once (pretty linear)
Witcher 3 is just an awesome game if you take the basic combat for granted and immerse yourself in the world.

Main quest is pretty basic story telling
Some secondary quests are more awesome than main quest and worthwhile
Monster contracts are pretty epic if you just do them ocassionally ( dont farm them)

Nigger im on my first playthrough @ 31 hours and I just got into the third chapter.
No, I am not rushing, but I didn't finish a few side quests during chapter 2 since I wanted to get the fuck away from that damn swamp.
The slums were comfy as fuck though. I don't like this newer fancy part of Vizima.

I didn't bother with 2 and this is one of the few series where I just youtubed the story and get on with it.
Haven't regret it yet and W3 has been amazing so far, haven't even touched DLC yet and 20-30 hours in already. Just take your time, before you know it, it's over.

All it is for 3 is a very immersive world. Its alive and the quests are just a side thing to it. Combat kind of sucks especially at the start. It becomes way too tedious about 20 hours in and you will eventually just end up batman arkham auto mode. Though the quests and listening to side banter keeps the grinding from getting stale.

This, I did just one of those quests and after I understood they are there just if you want more EXP or orens, I just skipped them and had a blast trough the rest of the game.

The first game was the only one of the series I liked. I found it had such a rich, beautiful and just straight up enjoyable world. 3 improved somewhat in the gameplay department but felt a bit too normal medieval. Plus I had no idea what was going on. I shortly quit it.
2 was just absolutely terrible. Gameplay was shit, from combat to menus, stupid dialogue choices and it was seriously ugly to boot. 3 is such a huge improvement over 2.

But, to be honest, i never played TW1. I've watched LP's of it and summeries and shit, but i found it too hard to play, with its age i mean. Hell, even if you entirely skip TW1 and dont look anything up about it it's still ok, i can't remember missing anything huge.
