I don't suppose anyone knows if there's a Nunchuk patch for Other M or something, the default control scheme makes me want to die with how bad it is. Who thought running in 3D using the Wii D-Pad while also needing to point at the screen during battles was a good idea?
At least the Metroid Prime trilogy has been fun, I don't remember them being this easy though, Metroid Prime's true form was literally just running around only taking like 20 damage from any hit it gave you(Which was almost never) waiting until it spawned Phazon to do a tenth of its health. Still not a big fan of Echoes though, feels like it takes forever to get anything.

Super Metroid is in the same position as OoT for Zelda, it's the game that established the series' formula and all the other games are built off of it. A lot of people will call it the best or even a perfect game, and they're not necessarily wrong.
The Prime series is excellent though, with Prime 1 in particular being another fan favorite. If you can grab Trilogy it's absolutely worth it. Fusion is good too, though it plays down the exploration and non-linearity in favor of a more action oriented game with lots of missions and bosses. Zero Missions a pretty solid lite Super, so if you liked Super you should enjoy it too.
Hunters had a fun multiplayer but with DS WiFi dead the whole game is now defunct, unless you're into bot games or want to play through its mediocre story campaign. Pinball is a good pinball game, Other M is a mess with most of its supporters being trolls.

I'm kind of in the same boat. Echoes is my favorite 3D Metroid, and what I've played of AM2R is my favorite 2D Metroid.
I like the games that have more digestible exploration and a bit more focus on combat. Most of the games in the series are fantastic but when I think of the standout moments it tends to be the parts where I'm hunting down monsters in a creepy, unwelcoming environment with a clear objective in mind, not the bits where I'm wandering around Zebes or Talon IV with only the vaguest of goals.

Found something interesting last night I was in a Metroid thread where someone asked people what did they wanted to see next for the series. I told a guy about how that thing on Samus back on her suit in Fusion is Fed tech. I just noticed that thing with the three purple orbs is on Samus's upper back the same place her Chozo markings on her Zero Suit are. Since Super Metroid Samus has always covered her upper back. My theory that Samus's cybernetic implants are in her upper back may be true.

To be fair, getting ammo for the weapons is a pain. I just got the Dark Beam and after forgetting ammo was rare immediately used up all 50. Now I'm basically sitting in the Dark Aether praying for drops with 3 ammo left. I do remember the Light Beam having better ammo drops but it felt weaker than the Dark Beam a lot of times.

Prime 2's pacing is garbage thanks to all the world switching and the Temple Key hunt at the end. Also, yes, the ammo system is bad. There was no reason to implement the Light and Dark beams in that fashion. And thirdly, Torvus Bog is a massive slog.

I think they sort of tried to emulate the game Hexen with Echoes' ammo system. In that game, your second and third weapons used blue and green mana respectively, while your fourth used a combination of both. The only problem is that ammo drops worked completely differently in Hexen and specific weapon weaknesses weren't really a thing in that game.

The fact that you have to sometimes battle in both first and third person is truly terrible since it means the battle is going to be so slow coupled with you scrambling to actually hit the damn enemy you're fighting. You know, i really don't get it how Sakamoto fucked up with Other M's story. There is "show, don't tell" kind of storytelling with Ridley, but it's completely reversed with Samus. And before that, in Fusion, there were a lot of nice details that you could miss if you didn't think of it much like SA-X's final form being a mix of Samus and its previous host. He clearly knows how to write things properly, so...what the fuck?

No, it isn't. Use the opposite beam to the one you want ammo for. Annihilator makes both drop a shitload, Power makes both drop on occasion, moreso if you're blowing up containers with it. And running out of ammo only means you have to resort to charge shots.

The only way to reliably get them is to kill something that takes a single shot. Normal beam only got a me a drop maybe under three times in the seven hours I've played so far, and unless you've got 5 or under you're not going to see a drop. The only way I reliably found to gather ammo was to farm on War Wasps, everything else takes far too much ammo to kill to get any other ammo. Pirates take one to two charge shots of the Dark Beam to kill on top of a missile and don't reliably drop light ammo, Warrior Ings take two complete Light Beam charge shots to kill for maybe 5 dark ammo, I so far haven't had a drop from those insect Ings despite one-shotting them with the Light Beam, the poison balls haven't dropped me anything, and so on.
So far haven't seen a crate drop anything elemental beam related unless I was 5 or under so far.
