It's Spore 2.0 but is going to fail in ever more ways than Spore did.

These types of games will always fail. They have potential, but the amount of effort that goes into making the expansive universe always leaves the time put into the actual gameplay ridiculously lacking.

The NMS dev honestly hasn't really promised that much, he's always been quite vague and evasive about everything. It's all pretty much been speculation from the peanut gallery hyping it up.
Just be sure you know what was actually promised and not what a bunch of random people think you're able to do.

From what I've seen of it, it still isn't interesting enough. I need to see more space combat, the most hectic shit possible. Currently it's just been some real simple stuff.

No, it's getting hate because it's cool to pretend Spore was the worst game ever and everything that want to do a space game with a big universe is tainted by it.

The devs really have been clear on most things except on the multiplayer.

I haven't followed this game for a while. Why's everyone saying it's shit now? A few months ago people were hyped. What went wrong?
>>
>>344312827
>pretend
The thing about Spore is that despite that huge universe it's almost utterly devoid of things to do and the game play sucks. No Man's Sky will suffer from the same thing. The devs will spend all of hteir time creating a huge universe and no time making an actually fun game.

There is literally nothing to do except mine and trade. It's like they tried making a Minecraft and Spore hybrid but took out the gameplay of both.

The goal is to get to "the center of the universe" and to do all you do is mine rocks, buy a ship, go to another planet, mine more rocks for fuel, and then repeat ad infinitum until you get to the center of the universe.
>>
>>344313262

It's the next big release coming up, so it's in people's crosshairs to jack off about being the next 'TORtanic'
>>
>>344313342
Yeah the gameplay look simple, but you're overly simplifying it to the point when it doesn't mean anything, it's like saying "All you do is walk in a room and shoot people, then you walk in another room and shoot other people, oh and you can try to do it faster" and that makes Hotline Miami boring.
>>
>people saying Spore 2.0
>implying spore isnt one of the best games ever made
>>
It's nothing like Spore because Spore promised a lot and didn't deliver. This game hasn't promised anything but a pretty but empty walking simulator and it'll probably deliver on at least that.
>>
>>344301078
>EVERYTHING THAT'S BEEN PROMISED

Can somebody please give me a definitive answer on multiplayer. Is it in ANY way possible to see another player physically? No matter how slim the odds.
Because wouldn't that require them to run a server to have everyone in the same universe realtime? And what Sean said how people will probably never see each other,, what's the point running a server?
>>
The problem is they've already shown everything there is to do in the game and everyone is letting their imaginations make them expect more. The game looks boring but you can't really accuse the creators themselves of misleading you.

exploring, gathering resources, discover planets\species, interact with new life forms and all this kind oh shit you expect. With reaching the center of the galaxy as ultimate goal
>>
>>344314081
Getting better tech to upgrade your suit/gun/ship in order to survive the harsh environment, mine better or have better chance of survival against enemies ships/better way to hide or more opportunity to warp to other star systems, either by stealing it from the factory, getting buddy-buddy with an alien factionn buying it or finding it, discovering aliens words to understand what the NPC talking to you are saying, defending yourself against the hostile fauna/flora that might be present when you mine, then the bots going around on some planets. You can also attack traders ships /space stations or defend them against space pirates to get cash or loot.

Apparently there's a plot too, but there's also some things like a stargate network that can be opened between worlds and if you manage to open one it allow you passage to a riche planet closer to the center of the galaxy so you can fill your pocket. Also heard there were some gadgets too, jetpacks, grenades and hacking devices, maybe there's more.

It definitely isn't empty, it got an average amount of content, although I agree that the pricetag is bloated compared to it, so how well the unvierse is done is essential.

>>344314190
>>344314587

This bugs me.

I understand that if planets had multiple biomes then the planets would feel less distinct from one another so it isn't worth the extra effort, but what is the point of having large planets of land then if absolutely everything is the same? Are you saying that nobody is actually discovering anything because they aren't real? Either answer and you should go hang yourself immediately for being so fucking stupid that even special education kids would encourage you to die.

why does it have to be a fight

games can't just be announced and then come out and be judged

by the time a game comes out in this day and age, in the time between announcement and release people have

Honestly wouldn't mind a feature of an added second class of spaceship like a frigate which is used to make your warp jumps. You could customize and upgrade that and your small ship is docked inside that and you use that to land on the surface.

We've seen countless games with procedurally generated worlds. They just lack the attention to detail, naturally, that a handcrafted world has.

I might've simply missed them in this thread but I haven't seen them. Anyway I also agree that it's retarded.

>You can't respond to skeptics without attacking them in the first place.
What about all the post linking to articles or site explaining what do you do in the game or gameplay videos that are almost always ignored when people asked for them or quoted to pretend nothing happens for 20 minutes when it's factually wrong? It's a literal fact that NMS threads are full of shitposters who spent the last year spamming "what do you do", I think that if you have doubt on the game asking to be spoonfeed because you're too lazy to skip through a 20 minute video isn't making your argument seem well-founded.
>>
>>344326853
Its because its a variation you fuckwit. The creatures are generated from the ground up with feet, legs, torso, head, horns, and other features that all are effected by scaling of different body parts which actually effect its vocals.

Except they haven't promised us jack shit. Here is what was promised
>an almost endless supply of randomly generated planets to explore, each with its own randomly generated flora and fauna that pull from a base set of physic creature attributes and combine them
>ability to name said creatures and planets if you're the first to find them
>mining (shooting at) resources for.... something?
> ability to shoot creatures
>drone things that harass you if you mine too much or kill too many animals unprovoked
> flying around
>some undisclosed thing at the center of the galaxy
And that's basically it. And while it's true that they aren't overpromising (except for probably whatever Peter Molyneaux level revelation is at the center of the galaxy), what they have shown so far seems to be proving that A. there isn't exactly a lot to any of these features, and B. there isn't anything BEYOND these features. It comes down to a lot of content but not much substance to any of it because it all ends up being the same thing with slight tweaks. There's no conventional multiplayer to enjoy this exploration with others, there's no space combat, there's little in the way of customization or player advancement/growth. There's just a lot of what is essentially nothing. It seems like you're really just going to be dropping in on these planets for a few minutes, grabbing some resources to let your ship go deeper into the galaxy, and ditching after you've pissed off the space fun police to do the same on a new planet. The charm of "ooh" ing and "ah"ing at the new randomly generated animals and scenery is going to wear thin after a while because there's nothing meaningful to do with ANY of it.
