MONDATTA
Basic lore: talon stole the body after it was (buried? Stored away?) and modified it to make it edgier and further their own goals.
Now edgelordatta is gonna try and force the omnic human war again, in a sort of weird second coming.
"With conflict comes purpose. With purpose, progress."
Shift: Ring of focus - Basically someone on your team gets buffed with a ~30% damage increase (lower than mercy's) and stays much like harmony orb.
E: Ring of Release - Someone in the enemy team gets a debuff that heals people who damage the debuffed enemy. The heal is a HOT and persists for a short while after dealing damage.
Q: Tempest - Mondatta becomes invulnerable. Enemies with mondatta in their fields of vision will target him automatically (like soldier 76's target visor) but does not affect their actual POV in any way. A certain percentage of the damage accumulated by mondatta is stored up to a and released in an AOE about the size of Zen's own transcendence. Mondatta moves faster. Allies can also target (although are not forced to) mondatta and can increase the damage of his Q even if the enemies don't fire their own weapons.
Wanted to keep them similar but also functionally different, in a way. Team wide heal and singular damage increase in contrast to zens team wide damage increase and singular heal.
The ult itself saves your allies but not in the conventional healing way. You sort of prevent them from taking damage (although explosive damage still works. Junkrat can aim at walls and reflect his bombs to still kill your allies). The more fighting there is between the two sides, the stronger it becomes although the enemy team can just piss off as a form of counterplay.

I haven't gone so crazy as to make a character yetlargely because I don't own the gamebut as a wannabe-designer, I can't help but get hype over abilities and mechanics. So, I'll drop some for "donation" here:
1. "Phase"- People have been talking about the invisibility-type abilities in the thread a bit, and that got me thinking- invis is usually a boring, frustrating mechanic for anyone who isn't the user- and so, this version is a more defensive ability.
>Phase: For the next 1s, prevent damage/the next damage that would be dealt to you. Then, enter an invulnerable/invisible state based entirely on how much damage was soaked this way- when the ability ends, an animation plays for "decloak", making it work a lot like Reaper's teleport.
Essentially, it's a way to be an annoyance to the enemy team. Block an incoming explosive and sneak around them with the ensuing invisibility charge- high-risk, high-reward.

The only thing I don't like about Phase is how complex it is to figure out. It's not quite like Zarya's shield which becomes "stop shooting the shield you idiots" as soon as people learn how it works- it's more "oh look, the enemy team has a junkrat nearby, let me gank that real quick".
2. "Beacon" - Zenyatta's orbs are an interesting take on abilities, and I think there's room to expand on things that work that way.
>Beacon: Plant a tracking beacon on visible enemy (within range? aimed like Tracer's ult, or Roadhog's hook?) that reveals them to your team for 8~12s.

Plays something like the Specialists mod for Half Life. Would have a small health pool and has to rely on getting around fast and dive i-frames to stay alive.
His ult would slow down time in some way.

Now, for something that isn't just shuffling pre-existing things around. Note that these abilities are not intended for a singular character, although it could work.

Most of them are game breaking, having abilities that can fuck a whole team up, are autistic 'children' of canon characters or just plain old don't fit design wise.
All the OC I've seen for Overwatch is cringe as fuck on so many levels
Bonus cringe points if they have a melee weapon and gun hybrid

The game needs a mid range attacker with a bolt action rifle. Someone able to deal with air Pharah's that are too far for S76 to reliably hit, and capable of killing a tracer at close range if they manage a headshot. I know widow exists for this role but she is barely played and even then they are rarely good and typically a bad pick for attack since they never get on point. Its the only role I feel the game is missing.

Going to try and refine some of these ideas into a coherent concept. Starting with a basic super-light/super-mobile female type and working from there. Think of the Dragon's Crown elf, Fran ala God Eater 2, and similar such figures. Small, wide-based.
Let's go ahead and say that she's an offensive type with low HP. If we stick with her Ult- Phantasm- generating AI clones, her role is a very Tracer-esque one forcing the enemy to divide, harrowing them from the flank.
Unfortunately, beyond this point, I'm really stuck on how to make any forward progress that isn't "oh, it's just Tracer, but with some McCree" or other similar statements. It's also particularly hard to try and find new movement ability design space.
If I had to lay out some general ideas, I'd have to say she'd fall into one of two types:
1. Super-Close/Grappler:
Intended to get very close and personal with the enemy team, especially good at punishing lone units. More related to the image, as the hydra-like arm plays a big part in grappling.
Or, a unit designed to be annoying at a distance- her gun, while not all that powerful at long distances, is accurate- able to annoy and possibly finish retreating enemy heroes. Up close, it's a lot more damaging, but it's not perfect since it's not as face-melting as McCree or as spammy as Tracer.

I think the passive should be Bleed.
Any enemy hit by the glock's bullet suffers from bleeding, and must pick up a health kit to stop it.
Headshots are OHKO, and shots to the limbs have a chance of incapacitating them, causing slower movement speed or inability to use their weapon.

I can't draw for shit, but here's my ideas:
1. A Norwegian opera singer called Olga/Helga that acts like an inverse Lucio; sings to debuff enemies in a given radius, dressing in a stereotypical germanic costume (viking helmet, axe, etc.)
2. Someone that's basically The Fury, from Metal Gear Solid 3: A Russian Cosmonaut with a jetpack and a flamethrower (or a napalm launcher)
3. A Succubus/Vampire that uses a swarm of bats for attack and defense. Has a "blood gauge" that fills as they deals damage, which can be consumed for limited teleportation/flight
4. A slimegirl that can take the shape of the enemies, serving in a capacity similar to TF2's spy. You can "The Thing" low-HP targets; absorbing them to kill them instantly and immediately take their form.

A large lumber-mill omnic named Stalwart, and an ex-Omnica engineer named Sheila

Extremely tanky slow hero. Playstyle consists of wading straight through the enemy team and planting his feet. Only has melee attacks with his tentacle-like lumber grasping appendages
Passive: Toughened Chassis
>Gains incrementally increasing damage reduction the lower his health
Skill 1: Timber Saw (12 sec cooldown)

"Lore" Background
Stalwart is a friendly omnic that refused/resisted the call of war, and instead started helping a bunch of Canadian loggers. He often placed himself in harm's way, letting himself get mauled by bears or bearing the impact of falling trees to help his human friends.
Sheila was a promising young engineer in the Omnica Corporation, until the company bankrupted and she lost her job. It only got worse after the Omnic Crisis. Looking for a target for their fears and hatred, her neighbors abused her and tossed her to gangsters, who chopped off her legs and shipped her to Canada to be sold to a rich tycoon.
Stalwart's lumber camp became a target of this roving gang as it has a lot of supplies. With his friends dead, Stalwart killed the gangsters and rescued Sheila.
Now with a damaged, psychotic engineer that hates humans and likes robots, this human-loving, robot-mistrusting omnic must try his best to help his new and only friend.

LMB: GOO GUN - This fucking nasty shit comes out like a stream of napalm (not that Hollywood propane poof of flame bullshit, but a liquid stream of volatile liquid). Getting hit with it doesn't do any pain in the ass slowing status effects like that Mei bitch, but it does smear the victim's vision, making everything blurry for a second. Not very powerful, but a nuisance.
SHIFT: SLIPSTREAM - The guy dumps a bucket of slippery shit in a straight line in front of him. He and his teammates can run on that shit like a Slip'n'Slide and get a speed boost along the length of it. Alternatively, he lashes that goo out and any enemies that run over the line lose all friction with the ground for about two seconds, likely causing them to careen into a wall. Consider the tactical applications of that shit for covering a chokepoint or running the fuck away from some Tracer cunt.
E: SLUDGE SHOT - Single out one poor fuck with this real nasty shit that comes out like a cannon ball. Hits about as hard as a direct rocket, but its main function is to gum up an enemy's gear. The victim can still move normally, but they can't jump, use mobility skills and their weapon fires half as fast for about three seconds.
Ultimate: GAK - You know that fucking Nickelodeon game show. Well he's gonna splat out a big radius of goopy slime that knocks back everyone and renders all of the enemies in it needing to clean off for the next six seconds. Unlike Mei's gradual freeze or Zarya's collection where they're still able to use all of their abilities, this thing happens instantaneously. Everyone in the radius are rendered unable to use any weapons or skills, however they can still run. Slipstream into a room, Gak everyone and the enemy will either run off or dance about trying to stay alive.

E- Hoplon - projects a circular shield 10 or so feet in front of Alexi for 6 seconds(doesn't block damage between the shield and himself). Shield can withstand 800 damage. If not destroyed, it fires from Alexi's pov doing more damage based on how much it absorbed.
Shift - sacrifice half of current shields to do a power leap, doing its damage in a small aoe around Alexi.
Ult - gives himself and teammates near him electrified fields for a brief tine. Fields gives 50 temporary shields to allies affected do 20 dps to enemies near electrified allies. Damage stacks.

Just scribbled this up a few days ago.
He'll be the dead husband of widowmaker, revived by Mercy into a sort of ghost like mist, similar to Johann Kraus from Hellboy. (he's all misty cuz he was revived using an early/primitive version of mercy's revive ult). He possess a robotic body he made for himself after being revived to help him with experiments and what not, (he was a scientist, not just a good overwatchh agent, after all) and if you can't already tell by the legs, he's good at jumping. He is somewhat mentally unstable, (being killed by yout wife, then being revived into a ghostly mist man will do that to ya) and will yell mean shit and stuff about hating Widowmaker from time to time. (He secretly wants to save her though).
Not quite sure what his attacks will be yet, but this is what I have so far:
CLASS: Tank. (He's a little taller than Zarya, so about 7-8 feet tall).
RIGHT-CLICK: uses telekinetic, force like power to pull rocks out of the ground to throw at people.
L-SHIFT: Jump, similar to Winston's, but using his telekinetic he can grab ahold of the walls of buildings (or whatever incline he jumps toward) and push himself off of it to do a chain of up to 5 jumps, with about a second of time to run on the wall (similar to lucio) or stay attached to the wall to quickly find another. Cool down: 8 seconds
ULTIMATE: "Hostile Takeover." His mist-like ghostly body leaves his robotic body to find and seep into enemy weapons and buildings (sentries, teleporters, etc). Causes 10 second failure of buildings you're caught, and temporary weapons malfunctions to nonbuilder players (effects include possible weapons jamming [meaning it has a chance that it wont be effected] emptying of ammo, forcing to reload, and generally causing hell for the enemy).
Like I said, not entirely sure what the rest of his attacks will be, but I know for sure that his playstyle will be similar to Winston's, in that he's meant to jump in and distract the enemy team.

Left click: 50 damage per shot. Each shot slows down the target's movement speed depending on how far away they are from you. The crossbow can fire 12 rounds before reloading and fires at about the same rate as Zenyatta's orbs. Spacetime MAGIC is used to reload the crossbow so the reload time isn't as slow as you'd think.
Right click: Quick teleport that can be aimed. The teleport also does 50 damage like Winston's jump pack. Cooldown: 6 seconds.
Trails of Time (E): Give yourself or an ally the ability to strike enemies by hitting where they were in the past for a short duration. This specifically counters asshole Tracers and Genjis and fucks over people trying to run away. Cooldown: 8 seconds.
Rewind (Shift): When used on an ally, this ability instantly undoes any damage done to them over the past 0-3 seconds and provides a space barrier that defends against a SINGLE attack. Heroes like Widow and Pharah will have a hard time dealing with the barrier but heroes like Soldier and Bastion can keep on spraying and praying. When used on an enemy, this ability undoes any healing they've received over the past 0-3 seconds. Furthermore, Rewind can also undo healing from health packs so if you aren't careful you can fuck over a teammate. Cooldown: 5 seconds
Thief of Time (Q): Applies an AOE aura to a person on the enemy team that slows down the enemy team's actions along with their cooldowns and also gives you an AOE aura that speeds up your team's actions and cooldowns. This ult can be semi-countered if the enemy you've applied it to gets the fuck away from their team. The debuff AOE is similar to Zenyatta's ult whereas the buff AOE is more akin to Lucio's AOE.

I had an idea for a melee offense character.
He's an alien, he has bee-like wings and can fly around anywhere.
His movespeed is the same as Tracer.
His shift is a move where he places a gross alien hive, it has 50 health but around it he has increased movespeed and attack damage.
His M1 is a claw on his arm that attacks forward. It does 45 damage and attacks around 1.75 times per second. It has a small swing arc though, only 40°, that's +/-20° from the cross hair.
His M2 is a spin attack that attacks 360° around him, but only does 30 damage and can be done 1 times per second.
His E is a swarm of alien parasites, moves around the same speed as Rein's fire blast, it does 10 damage on hit, does a total of 60 damage over time and if an enemy is killed when infested they explode with a green ichor and instantly heal you and your allies in an AoE by 100 health.
His passive is when an enemy is hit by his melee attack they are marked and the swarm seeks them out, but it dies on shields or walls, it cannot be deflected but can be shot down by D.Va. You know when you've been marked, it lasts 10 seconds from a melee attack and only on one person.
His ult is he opens his chest and fires a huge stinger, it does 150 damage, moves at the same speed as a Mei icicle and has a short 0.6 second delay before firing, it had no damage falloff and doesn't drop to gravity. If it kills the target the stinger is left on the floor for 60 seconds. If you pick up the stinger it gives you 40% ult metre back.
I did steal some of this from Ah Muzen Cab from smite, and he would look similar to the skin in pic

Any sort of ability that takes direct control away form a player is poor design. Especially in an FPS. If a player under such an effect can take their hands off the keyboard and suffer no consequences because the the situation an ability has put them in, its bad.
This is why Mei and other hero abilities need to be redesigned:

Long range attack that does massive damage, the construction Nikos' expandable spear allows it to shoot out, piercing through enemy targets but not through walls or other obstacles. Immobilizes enemies pierced by it. Can be aimed for critical damage as well. Has a travelling time.

Actually I was thinking a pet hero would be cool as a tank.
Your main dude would have something mediocre like a Mercy pistol or Lucio blaster, but would have the ability to summon bots that don't do much besides walk to a waypoint you set and shoot enemies on the way there. Start with one bot that has like 200-300 hp and get another summon every 25-30 secs (maybe also get a charge for every elim) up to a max stored charge of 2 with 2 max bots on the field. If any of the bots are on a point/payload it caps like you are on the point (only once, so if you and 2 two bots are on the point it still caps at the speed of one person). Ult would work like Molten core but with the damage toned way down.
The idea would be to make it somewhat of a combo between D.Va's roles and Zarya's roles where they're good at assaulting a position, they have good survivability, and can force the other team to focus on your botsbecause you can be reckless but they also are really easy to take care of if they're caught on their own and/or don't have any charges. Maybe give the main guy a small mobility/escape move like a wraith form or Pharah's rocket jump on a long cooldown so you don't end up like Zenyatta
