This isn't as fun as it sounds, if you're low level the +melee skill means you obliterate, until you get to not-low-level and then you're useless
I suppose you can do the improved enchant thing and make +800% melee gloves or something, but where's the challenge at that point?

Smithing is too op. The strongest 1h sword in vanilla is around 45 damage + enchantments and you can easily make something a billion times stronger.

It's also too easy to make ungodly amounts of money by creating weapons with the Banish enchantment. Can't imagine how many hundreds of iron daggers of Banish I've dumped into the market.

Wear a robe and a wizard's hat.
Always use FPP.
Don't run around like a bitch while casting spells. Install mods that adds spells for pushing enemies away or blocking their attacks. I remember there is a combat mod that adds magic block that can be used any time with a hotkey, but uses mana.
Fight with a sword and a staff in close quarters. Install a mod that allows to block while dual wielding and autocast some spells.
When fighting dragons, find a hill top and stand your ground there. Absorb or avoid their breaths with spells and shouts. If they get into melee range, use a teleporting spell instead of running like a bitch.
