They do have cheat detection though. They've had at least four VAC banwaves this year getting rid of hackers.
The problem is that the same hackers just keep generating alts and coming back over and over again. That's what happens with a free-to-play game. That's why Valve is instituting a one-time paywall or a phone number.
I realize that I sound like a massive fucking drone right now, and I don't agree with everything they do, but they've tried legal action against LMAOBOX devs and that didn't work, they've tried rooting out the program and manually banning people who used LMAOBOX and that doesn't stop them.

Soda Popper is nowhere near dead, it still has better DPS than the Scattergun,
The balance problem with Soda Popper is that allowing Scout to basically fly means that Scout can avoid all projectile splash damage by jumping while fucking up Soldiers and Demos from midair.
It actually hasn't been nerfed enough, they need to go further.

Competitively Heavy is actually quite a strong class. The only reason he's not used more in competitive 6s is because they intentionally ban GRU so that both teams don't always have a Heavy, since Heavies slow down the game.

I'm not a Soldier main and i actually want some of Soldier's unlocks nerfed (I post on here bitching about Escape Plan, Bazooka, and Disciplinary Action a lot, for example). But I can also realize that Scout is by far one of the best classes in the game. He's the best DM class and the best objective-capping class.
Old Soda Popper was basically a direct upgrade to the Scattergun, it made him stronger against EVERY class, not just Soldier and Demo.

We have to balance the game around matchmaking now. Pubs can get by being imbalanced, but competitive can't. And now that competitive is an official part of TF2, it'll stop being a "minority circle jerk" which I agree 6s kind of has been for a long time.

Alright then, let me rephrase that: It won't make Short Stop overpowered. Short Stop sacrifices DPS for DPM, and that's rarely useful to a Scout. An "airblast" that is melee range and can't reflect projectiles is also rarely useful.

I'm not a Soldier main and I don't want Heavy removed from the game. You have to understand that he's actually really fucking strong.
The Natascha nerf and the Brass Beast nerf were undeserved, but as for GRU, try actually looking at it for a second. Look at its upsides and downsides.
Upside is that it allows Heavy to move 30% faster, reaching the front line at the same speed as normal classes. Considering his main balancing weakness is low speed, this is pretty big.
Downside is that he does less melee damage, which is almost totally irrelevant, because Heavies rarely use their melee for damage.
The other downsides are the swap-to penalty and the "marked for death while active and for three seconds after". Those ones are the relevant ones, but they're still not enough.
Heavies simply switch away from the GRU about 3 seconds before they've reached the front line of battle. This means you don't take any mini-crits, so you've gotten to the battle faster for no downside.
Heavy is a class with very high damage, the highest Health in the game, average range. His only weaknesses as a class are getting to the battle slowly, taking time to rev up, and moving even slower while revved.
Add Sandvich and GRU into that mix and you've got a tanky, powerful, decently ranged class who can reach the frontline at roughly the same speed as everyone else, as well as being able to heal himself or toss medium medkits every 30 seconds.
This is why GRU needs to be nerfed. They picked the wrong weapons to nerf, though.

Yea, I agree critacola should have been nerfed more. And I agree Soldier's unlocks need to be nerfed too, particularly Free Speed Boost Plan (pic related), which is a buff to Soldier that he doesn't need and is bad for class and weapon balance.

I'll admit that's a downside I somehow managed to overlook, but do you know what vertical mobility is good for?
2 main things: Firing from high ground (important to Soldiers and Demos because being able to shoot downwards at enemies allows you to use splash damage on the ground around them, rather than having to hit them directly, while they must direct or airshot you to hit you back), and for getting to the battle more quickly (like I said, already addressed),
Heavy is a class who uses solely hitscan and is slow moving (with low ability to dodge projectiles), so high ground is not a necessity for him. He was going to shoot directly at his target anyway because he doesn't have splash, and splash affects him less because he has high health in lieu of needing to dodge. So, not having high ground is not a worry, and since hitting "directs" with Heavy is easy, he fucks over classes who rely on that.
Getting to the battle more quickly has already been addressed.
