Well, I remember some shitty, rough estimates I did on Stillborn's budget the other day. They've stated that they have spent more on Stillborn than Borderlands 1 and 2 combined.
Borderlands 2's budget was said to be between 20-35 million dollars. Borderlands 2's budget was said to be twice the size of Borderlands 1's budget, so 10-17.5 million dollars.
At most, they spent 52 million dollars on these two games. Keep in mind that Stillborn is said to have a significantly larger budget than both of them combined. Stillborn has currently earned about 18 million in profit back.
Even if it was only 52 million dollars, that's a loss of 34 million dollars, which would be a significant blow to a company of Gearbox's size.

Gearbox challenged Blizzard when that happened, Blizzard just proved it's marketing department is much better staffed and much more experienced and that the fanbase of Blizzard is still one of the largest in the world.

Symmetra's M1 is insanely powerful if you're good enough to get close and stay alive for a short time. Her M2 is an excellent fire and forget area denial, which gets occasional clueless kills. Her turrets, spaced properly, allow everyone on the team to easily kill anyone trapped by them. On defence, her teleporter is vital, no two ways about it. On offence, her teleporter can be cleverly used on some maps to take the second point; a good example is Volksaya Industries, where you can set it up on the far left side after entering with the moving platforms. Baby it for a while until the team makes it through, and you can win right off of that.
She's also the antichrist when it comes to Genji or Lucio.

I know her M1 is strong but the range is null, and most of the time it requires you to chase someone to kill them, which is no good as Symmetra since she's squishy as fuck, M2 is a really slow projectile, her turrets are good in enclosed spaces and only if fully concealed, and Junkrat/Pharah can remove them easily, the teleporter is a must in defence, but good luck using it effectively as attacker, and her shield is good, but torbjorn's is better albeit only temporal.
I just wish they gave her gun a bit more range OR make her M2 way faster.

Every reputable source puts gaming at a solid 60/40 split average for men, the more difficult the genre the less women (and people in general) play it.
Stuff like Bayo or DMC is almost exclusively male, you never see women playing Hearts of Iron, I've never heard of a girl playing Panzer General, and in my decades if FPS I have encountered barely a dozen females. Sure there were probably plenty that didn't use mics, but that goes double for men.

I abandoned the game right at the beginning of Episode 5 when after four episodes of no plot advancement and your actions influencing exactly nothing, what little influence you had over the story was undone by Ramsay Bolton showing up again.
Couldn't take it anymore. It's one thing to have games that don't branch and your decisions merely shape the manners in which you reach a pre-determined outcome, but in other games you're at least an active factor on moving the story along. In GoT, the game revels in rubbing your nose in the dirt and making clear that you are worthless as a player and you have no agency.

Latching on to an enemy has ehhh range. Once it is latched on, you just have to keep them on the screen, the range just about doubles. Getting close is not an issue for someone who uses the maps, anyway, and chasing is incredibly simple if you make yourself a hard target. I frequently dance around in the middle of teams right on the payload melting their Lucio and whoever else and come out of it fine, if they're distracted enough by my team shooting at them from over wherever. Never overestimate the situational awareness of any team you come across. The slowness of her M2 is an advantage. The turrets are not permanent fixtures, you put them one by one in sneaky places and just replace them as they go down or form a rolling defence to make the enemy pay for every inch.
And yes, it's entirely possible to use Symmetra effectively as an attacker.

I can't find anything more recent than that.
All sources seem to indicate that gender is pretty evenly balanced all around, with female gamers tending to be older and preferring more story oriented games and more casual games, while male gamers are slightly younger and prefer anything with gratuitous violence.
Also it looks like the number of female gamers has been growing MASSIVELY over the past few years, because the stats in 2006 were about 70%-30% in favor of men all around.
Basically, feminists were right and the reason women didn't play games is because no one would market to them.

My post is purely anecdotal, based on my own experience. I have asked about which is better in PVP, Oscar Mike or Whiskey Foxtrot and been given McCree strats, I've asked for Reyna tips and get the the latest Winston strats, etc...
I don't care, I've played both those games and while superficially similar, Battleborn has more in common mechanically with Destiny than it does Overwatch.
But no one ever makes that comparison.
I got the game for free and it's kinda fun, I just want to talk about that game, it doesn't seem too much to ask.
