Does anybody else feel like the boss quality dipped hardcore at the last couple bosses? It sorta felt like they ran out of money or something.
The final boss in particular was pretty disappointing, but maybe that's because I enjoyed the swordplay more than the bullet hell parts. I was also expecting a little bit more from the story. They set it up like stuff was gonna be answered at the end and I guess some stuff was answered, but it still left me with a sort of sour taste in my mouth. Felt just a little bit lazy to set up all this intrigue but never really give it a proper payoff.
Overall though, really fun game, maybe a little expensive at 25 dollars but I'd definitely pick it up on a sale.

I can see they were trying to boil the main parts of the gameplay—bullet hell and sword action— with the Edge and the Star while giving the Beat some platformer variety. Try charging your shot to maximum capacity when she stands still or if you want to stop some of her telegraphed attacks, shoot a slightly charged shot to cut her off. Also when she is about to dive into you, charge a shot and hit her directly to stop her dive, with the highest charge dropping her to the ground.

Mostly just shoot basic bullets at her the first few rounds. Melee her when shes on stage (she didn't do much in melee range but it happens) also parry her dive attack for an auto stun melee cutscene thing (later rounds only on the third try)
Look for pillars on her final round and don't fuck up the finishing blow because if you die where her protective bubble normally is it auto kills all your lives

Not really a fan of how the game works. I hate that you heal after each phase, and KOs don't feel painful enough as losses to me. You just get back up, whatever. And regaining lives is even stupider.
I beat 2 bosses so far and got 3 KOs in total, no game over yet. I would restart from scratch and try for no KOs but eh.

To be honest, the walking sim portions of this game were all really well executed. Top notch atmosphere and buildup to the hectic fights.
So, correct me if I'm wrong here butThe Song wanted to be with his daughter, but he knew so long as The Rider was there, he would never be free of his duty. So he breaks out The Rider, and The Rider slaughters his way down until he is out. With The Rider free, The Song can finally be with his daughter.
Also, I assume there is some way to fight The Song? Checking my practice list, I'm missing the #11 fight. Do you get that fight by NOT fucking off to space? Either way, that's a shame. I don't feel like beating the game again just to get an extra fight. It was fun, but not worth the hassle of a second playthrough.

Why would leaving him in there doom the planet? The Voice wanted to see his daughter, no matter the consequences, I thought. They knew he was an alien (it's brought up in some boss dialogues) but the game didn't reveal it fully until the end obviously. But The Voice was talking about "having hope" when he spared The Song, that maybe he wouldn't destory the earth.

I literally stopped at her second-to-last phase. I wasn't having fun. It was just difficult, and difficulty without fun is meaningless. If I wanted to play a bullet hell I'd play a bullet hell, and I sure as fuck don't want to play a bullet hell. Previous bosses had bullet hell elements, of course, but it was bearable because it was well-paced with melee sections.
But the last boss...I don't want to play fucking touhou.

I literally stopped at his second to last phase. I wasn't having fun. It was just difficult, and difficulty without fun is meaningless. If I wanted to play an action game I'd play an action game, and I sure as fuck don't want to play and action game. Previous bosses had action elements, of course, but it was bearable because it was well-paced with bullet hell sections.
But The Edge... I don't want to fucking play Dark Souls.
How could they fuck up a boss so hard in a boss rush game?

I spent more time on Sniper girl than I did on the final boss, because I actually enjoyed the Sniper chick fight (except the last phase, which was also a fucking bullet hell). I got to the 2nd-to-last phase on mothership. With another ~1hr I could've beaten it, but it literally wasn't fun any more.

The Edge was just one in a series of fights. I don't even personally consider him to be part of the "main" jailers, just kind of a random "and now for something completely different!"
The final boss should've been a culmination of all the previous stuff you've done, plus maybe a few surprises. The Burst makes a better final boss than either The Beat or The Star.

Technically it's an optional boss anyway. It might been a lot better if you had to face another "Rider" in a clone fight or something but I still thought it was fine.

It's clickbait, it has to be. There are several games that are MUCH worse about shaming you for playing on easier difficulties.
Also if I remember right there's a later section where she complains about how the game "punishes" you because The Chain shittalks you. Granted, his dialogue is pretty tryhard/edgy, but it only becomes grating if you keep getting your shit kicked in, which I have a hard time fathoming because I fucked up pretty much that entire fight and still only lost like two lives.
