It doesn't compare at all to the main series pokemon games. You pretty much go around and click on pokemon to catch them, excpet there is some skill involved since you have to "aim" your pokeballs to catch them. That's not as bad as the battle system though, where you literally tap on pokemon as fast as you can to defeat them and swipe once in a while to dodge. That's the extent of the "gameplay".
The game is fun, but wears thin pretty quick once you realize how shallow the depth is.

each mon has a max CP, you can see it by the bar above the pokemon in their info page.
when you evolve them they get an amount of CP based on the evolution, they will get the same amount when evolving the same pokemon.
evolved pokemon has a higher max CP
If you catch a pokemon, and the CP value is in the left half of the bar, go ahead and grind it into candy.
The amount of stardust changes when powering up 'mons, the question is, is it based on their current CP or the ratio of current to max
if it's ratio of current to max, then you'd save hundreds or thousands by waiting until you evolve before powering up,
if it's based on current CP, it won't make a difference if you evolve or power up first.
unless you're very close to the max for that 'mon, then if you used power it'd put you at your max instead of giving you the full amount that pokeman would have got. (like if you're 4 away from max and you power up, you'll only get 4, instead of the amount that pokeman normally gets when powering up)

What benefit is there to using dust after level 6?
I'm a yuropoor but at this I point I wish they just region blocked regions where the game hasn't launched yet. Having the servers crash constantly while a lucky few manage to capture gyms is worse than waiting a few days for the game to release.
