They stopped selling. The West took over the video game market and that style of game has mostly fallen out of favor now unfortunately. That style of game is way more niche nowadays and since video games are that much more expensive to develop, a lot of publishers and devs don't want to put in that much time and money into such a project because the returns probably wouldn't exceed the cost of development.

To be fair, while I'm really looking forward to it, it's also going to be an RPG so it's not really a pure action game. That said, it's the closest thing to a new, 'real' Platinum Games release since Bayonetta 2, so that's good.

I never gave a shit about God of War, but its success has a ripple effect on games around it. Kamiya even said GoW was a large insperation for him. What kind of message do you think Japanese devs get when the new GoW has 10 million views on YouTube and people are calling it the game of the show?

God of War is also remarkably more simple and more shallow than DMC, NG, or Bayonetta. It's also not quite in the same genre as those either.

I don't know why he and every other Japanese dev rides its dick. I appreciate the influence the game has had, since it has lead to the over-the-top madness and huge boss fights in Bayonetta and the Wonderful 101, plus some elements in Ninja Gaiden 2, but I don't care for it in the least otherwise.
